The Xiaomi 12 Lite is approaching: here’s what it has in store for us

Xiaomi presented the Xiaomi 12 at the end of last year in China and last week, the smartphones finally made their arrival in our regions at a higher price than their predecessors. The Xiaomi 12 is priced from €899.90 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro from €1099.90, and they will be available for purchase on March 28. Barely smartphones formalized on our continent, rumors about a Xiaomi 12 Lite surface on the web. They come from informant xiaomiui and claim that the affordable version of Xiaomi’s new series of smartphones will be “available soon” in Europe and will replace the Xiaomi 12X launched in China. Which technical sheet for the Xiaomi 12 Lite? The Xiaomi 12 Lite would then be coming soon. The smartphone would have a design very close to its two cousins, but a technical sheet with some differences and sacrifices to make it affordable. According to information collected by the leaker, the Xiaomi 12 Lite will have a 6.55-inch screen, an intermediate size between the 6.28-inch Xiaomi 12 and the 6.73-inch Xiaomi 12 Pro. It should be an OLED panel with a Full HD + display offering 120 Hz refresh, just like what the Xiaomi 12 offers. And we should also benefit from the always-on mode and a fingerprint reader placed under the slab. There would then be few differences between the screen of the Xiaomi 12 Lite and that of the Xiaomi 12. But it is on the rest of the technical sheet that the performance gap would widen.

Xiaomi 12 Lite: what this less powerful version that is coming soon has in store for us

If we rely only on its looks, according to first 3D renderings of the device, the Xiaomi 12 Lite should be quite similar to its big brothers. It would have a significant difference in size, however, with a curved 6.55-inch diagonal, halfway between the 6.28 inches of the Xiaomi 12 and the 6.73 inches of the Xiaomi 12 Pro.

We therefore understand that the term Lite, light, would imply a light version of the first two phones in particular on the power of the device, but not necessarily on the real weight of the phone, which should logically be heavier than the Xiaomi 12.

Its Oled panel would also have a Full HD + definition and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, with always-on. The fingerprint sensor should again be located under the screen.

It is therefore more in terms of power that the Xiaomi 12 Lite could give up a little ground and thus lower its price. Instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, it would deal with a Snapdragon 778G +, a chip more cut out for the mid-range.

On the photo configuration side, the Xiaomi 12 Lite would offer three modules: a 64-megapixel main sensor (Samsung ISOCELL GW3) as well as an ultra wide-angle sensor. On the other hand, bye bye the telephoto lens, the 12 Lite would integrate a macro module. Good news too, Android 12, in the form of MIUI 13 would be available right out of the box.

Xiaomi 12X review

Introduction, Specifications, Unboxing

The Xiaomi 12 flagship trio has finally gone global, and we’re thrilled to have all three Xiaomi 12 models in our office. After reviewing the Xiaomi 12 Pro and the Xiaomi 12, we are now preparing for our in-depth review of the Xiaomi 12X. It’s like a Lite version of the Xiaomi 12, but it’s a sturdy model with the only thing that’s light is its weight.

Indeed, the Xiaomi 12X is an incredibly compact and light smartphone that hurts the eyes (and hands) in this year 2022. We have always been fans of this form factor and never miss an opportunity to enjoy a phone reasonably sized in our hands and pockets.

Obviously, the 12X is identical to the Xiaomi 12 in everything except the chipset. This means that it is equal in size, weight and even color. We can only think of the Xiaomi 12 as the redundant phone of the trio – it currently has the most powerful hardware in a small body and under a 1080p screen. And let’s face it – it’s overkill, and what’s worse, a chokehold. It’s like putting a Ferrari engine in a Beetle.

That, and the lower price is what makes the Xiaomi 12X the most attractive phone to explore. It has a solid chipset, a top-notch display, up-to-date photography skills, and fast charging.

Alright, obviously we’re excited about the Xiaomi 12X, so let’s get down to business.
