Sega publishes the sales of the Yakuza and Persona sagas since their launch and both enjoy iron health
Financial reports they are a fundamental part of the companies’ balance sheet. They allow us to check what state your most valuable franchises are currently in and thus be able to plan for the future.
It is because of that Sega sammy has published its own report, which provides data on sales since the launch of several of its sagas. And the news is very positive.
Person has exceeded 13.1 million units sold since its debut in 1996. Works like Persona 5, with its Royal version and the arrival of Persona 4 Golden for PC have been a great boost in recent times for these figures.
On the other hand, Shin Megami Tensei it is not far behind. What’s more, with its 17.4 million copies sold outperforms Persona. 30 titles in the series since 1992 justify the numbers and the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster and Shin Megami Tensei V for Nintendo Switch next year will increase the numbers.
Another of the most important franchises for Sega Sammy is Yakuza. With the arrival of the recent Yakuza: Like a Dragon, critics once again praise the work done in the saga. A saga that already reaches the 14 million sales since its release on PS2 in 2006.
In spite of everything, from Sega they recognize that it is still a niche series aimed at the Asian audience, although he acknowledges that foreign criticism has been very positive. Recall that recently Sega confirmed its intention to publish more remakes, remasters and versions of Atlus games for different platforms. We will have to be attentive to the future of the company and its games.
