Spider-Man: Miles Morales comes with a PS5 remaster of the original Spider-Man
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is one of several PlayStation 5 games officially announced and released on the day of release. After the announcement, however, there was still some confusion. Developer Insomniac Games maintains that it is a completely standalone game similar to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but in the meantime it is increasingly starting to look like Spider-Man: Miles Morales is mainly based on the original PS4 game.

The latest issue of Game Informer sheds more light on what we can expect from Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Miles Morales does not turn out to be a traditional sequel as it comes with a remastered version of the original Spider-Man that takes advantage of the PS5 hardware.
It makes sense to remaster Insomniac Games’ original Spider-Man when the New York City version for Miles Morales is updated. Yet it remains strange that the developer so persistently continues to say that it is a standalone game, while Sony CEO Simon Rutter indicated in an interview that the title should mainly be seen as an expansion.
Simon Rutter, the CEO of Sony’s European PlayStation division, told The Telegraph in June that Miles Morales will be adding significant improvements to the 2018 PS4 game. “I think you could call it an extension and improvement of the previous game,” he said. “There is a substantial new part starring Miles Morales and that is the expansion element, but also within the game there have been major improvements to the game and engine, obviously implementing some of the core PlayStation 5 technology and features . ”
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released for PS5 at the end of this year. The original game was released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 in September 2018 and has sold over 13 million copies, according to Sony.
