Some of the news that would arrive in 2018 were recently announced, without confirming the exact date. The creator of the game, Eric Barone, wanted to start the year strong by announcing one of the most anticipated news for the entire valley community.

On the go multiplayer

The multiplayer mode of Stardew Valley is one of the improvements most requested by its followers. Through a tweet, CorcernedApe (Eric Barone), the creator of the game, wanted to show the progress in this mode. He confirmed that they were done with development of the additional content and that currently all resources are being used in multiplayer mode.

Also, I’m finished with the new content and have shifted all my attention to getting multiplayer ready!

This mode can be played both locally and online. There is no official date but everything indicates that it will not be long.

4-player Stardew Valley LAN party at my house… it’s really fun. It still needs some work, but the underlying network code is solid. Being in the same room and yelling at each other about what to do next, or if anyone has any stone, is great fun. Can’t wait to share this

“Stardew Valley LAN party for 4 players at my house… it’s a lot of fun. Still needs a bit of work, but the network code is solid. Being in the same room yelling at each other about what to do next or whether someone has a rock is fun. I can’t wait to share it “

In the image of the tweet we can see several players in the orchard and a chat bar in the lower left for communication between them.

New content (update 1.3)

  • New “city event” in winter
  • New type of collection that you can start in your first winter
  • Signals (can show any element in them)
  • More outdoor decorations (some change with the season)
  • More “events” NPC
  • A way to re-specify professions

Remember that the additional content of this update 1.3 will arrive first to Pc, Linux and Mac to later land on consoles (PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch). It was dated for the first of the year so it must be right around the corner.

What do you expect from the multiplayer mode of Stardew Valley?
