After Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Daredevil has also been canceled on Netflix after the third season. The story of blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who guards the streets of Hell’s Kitchen at night as Daredevil, was the longest-running Marvel series on Netflix. Other characters Jessica Jones and The Punisher now remain.

Daredevil has had his latest adventure on Netflix. It seems that the collaboration between Disney, the owner of Marvel Studios, and streaming platform Netflix is further souring. Especially after the announcement that Disney is coming with its own streaming service: Disney +.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Netflix released the news yesterday with the following statement:

We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.

The collaboration between Disney and Netflix came under pressure after negotiations about the continuation of Luke Cage came to a halt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, things went wrong because Netflix wanted to reduce the standard number of episodes for the season from thirteen to ten to improve the quality of the series.

As if that wasn’t enough, almost all Marvel series on Netflix were plagued by creative disagreements, causing many a showrunner to walk away. For example, Drew Goddard and Michelle Rosenberg left Daredevil and Jessica Jones respectively.
