HE SAYS announced that the Star Wars Battlefront 2, available today, will also be the last. It has also been confirmed that the studio plans to release the new game from Battlefield next year.
In a blog post, Creative Director Dennis Brännvall detailed everything in the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 update titled The Battle on Scarif. While this is the latest content update, DICE has confirmed that there will still be online support.
“Looking beyond April, we are moving into a phase where servers, in-game challenges, recurring events and support will project this vast and rich gaming experience into the future,” Brännvall says in the post. “This means we are moving away from providing regular content updates. As the game lives with players and our community, we look forward to hearing your stories for years to come.”
The Battle on Scarif update will bring a variety of modes and new looks based on The Rise of Skywalker for Rey, Kylo Ren, and Emperor Palpatine. There is also a “hooded look” for Rey which will be unlocked by “unraveling the mystery of Takodana”. This announcement comes shortly after DICE revealed that its final standalone update for Battlefield 5 will arrive this summer.
With both games from the development studio ending their regular content by this summer, it can be assumed that DICE is shifting its resources to the next new version. Last year it was confirmed that the next Battlefield game would launch in 2021 or 2022. Now we have confirmation that there is new work to be done.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
