The second Star Wars film celebrated its fortieth anniversary yesterday, and the studio was delighted to make it a little interesting for fans.

Many say The Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars movie that has ever been released. It’s unnecessary to argue about taste, of course, but it has to be left that if this film hadn’t been so successful, we might not be able to talk about an extensive Star Wars universe at all today. A time capsule now takes us back to 1980 so we can get a behind-the-scenes look and listen to what the actors think about the cinema that was being made at the time.

The tight four-minute video features Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and George Lucas, but also C-3PO Anthony Daniels and director Irvin Kershner. So looking back, it’s smiling to see the actors and creators talk during filming that they really want some more Star Wars episodes to be made.

Although countless films, series, games, books, comics, and other works have now been born under the auspices of the franchise, in 1980, not even the breeze could be felt. Moreover, the success of the Empire’s retaliation greatly contributed to the birth of later works, as it proved that people were still curious about the far-far galaxy after the New Hope.
