This is what Prophecy, the never-before-announced Ghost of Tsushima predecessor, looked like
Now, an 11-minute gameplay video has leaked from Sucker Puncht showing a picture of a rather cozy and elaborate game.
While Ghost of Tsushima hasn’t been flawless (which game is it?), It will definitely be ranked among the most notable titles of 2020 in the year-end totals. One of the greatest strengths of the game is its atmosphere as it conveys the atmosphere typical of samurai films and evokes the spirit of Kurosava. Yet Sucker Punch was eyeing other topics as well, and according to a leak, one was almost realized.
For the first time, 4Chan saw the release of a video that was in the portfolio of one of the characters in the development studio. This has since been removed, but we all know that the internet will not be forgotten; since then, the more than 11-minute long, gameplay-focused preview has been uploaded to several locations. You can check it out here, although the publisher is removing the links with great force, so it’s worth taking a look at it as soon as possible:
A lot of things from the project called Prophecy were probably taken over to Ghost of Tsushima, as the combat system and stealth mechanics seen in the show are also distinctly similar to the samurai adventure. What would have been really interesting was the world and story of the game, which at first glance took place in a fictional, distinctly filthy and dark city.
As the narration of a protagonist named Abel reveals, an evil organization would have tried to find some hidden chamber that stretches beneath the city. The player’s goal would have been to find the secret location first, while preventing his rivals, who were also searching for the chamber.
It’s a shame there are so many “woulds” out there, as the show looked promising anyway, and if we hear about Prophecy being made and mowed earlier, we’ll definitely wear it badly, so maybe it’s not a problem that only a good few years and a particularly strong look later only the news of the project reached the public.
Are you happy that Ghost of Tsushima has finally appeared, or do you prefer the atmosphere of Prophecy?
