We are going to explain to you what is Xiaomi Cloud, the cloud options that you will find on Xiaomi phones. We will also talk to you about the price of expanding your storage, and we will end by explaining how you can access its configuration and the data that you have uploaded.
Like many manufacturers, Xiaomi will also make you create your own account to be able to centralize various data in it, and through its cloud tool you can synchronize various things between devices. Here we are going to explain everything to you in the simplest way we can.
What is Xiaomi Cloud
Xiaomi Cloud is one of the services that is included as standard with your Xiaomi account. Android mobile phones typically use two user accounts. One is that of Google, which is through which all the standard Android experience is centralized. And then there is manufacturer specific account, which is often used to centralize the experience of the pre-installed services you offer on your device.
Xiaomi Cloud is the cloud service, which means that it provides you with an online storage space in which save your files and data. Everything you upload to this cloud will be available to access from its web client, as well as from any other Xiaomi device where you are using the same account.
But this cloud is not so simple, and it not only offers storage where you can move whatever you want. Like other manufacturers with their native clouds, also allows instant backups of your entire device, as well as specific items. Making the copy of the device, if you reinstall it later, you will recover everything you had and all the configuration so that you do not have to do it by hand.
What’s more, you can also make backup copies of your photos and other items on the device. They are elements that you can activate and deactivate manually in the Xiaomi Cloud settings on your mobile. Here is the list:
- Gallery: If you activate it, you will save all the photos you take with your device in the cloud. Be careful, this can quickly fill up your free storage.
- Messages: If you activate it, you will save all the SMS you receive on your mobile in the cloud, and then you will be able to consult them online from any device.
- Contacts:: If you activate it, you will save all the contacts in your mobile phonebook in the cloud, and then you will be able to consult them online from any device.
- Call History: If you activate it, you will save in the cloud the history of all the calls you have received on your mobile, and then you will be able to consult it online from any device.
- Tape recorder: If you activate it, when you use the audio recorder of your Xiaomi mobile, the recordings will be saved in the cloud, and then you can consult them online from any device.
- Grades: If you activate it, you will save in the cloud all the notes you write in the Xiaomi Notes application that comes pre-installed on your mobile phones, and then you will be able to consult them online from any device.
- Wifi: If you activate it, you will save the passwords and data of the WiFi networks that you access with your mobile in the cloud, so that they can then be synchronized on other devices where you use your Xiaomi account.
- Calendar: If you activate it, you will save all the calendar data of your device in the cloud, and then it will be synchronized with the rest of the devices where you use your Xiaomi account.
- My browser: If you activate it, the bookmarks, history and open tabs of the mobile’s native browser will be saved, and thus, when you open it in another where you use the same Xiaomi account, these elements will be synchronized.
- Frequent phrases: If you activate it, the phrases you use the most will be saved, and thus will be incorporated into the autocomplete function on devices where you use the same Xiaomi account.
In these elements, when activating their synchronization, the data that we have described will be saved in the cloud. Then, some of them can be consulted from the Xiaomi Cloud web client, but all of them will be synchronized in the rest of the devices where you use the same Xiaomi account and also have them activated.
In addition to backups, Xiaomi Cloud also provides the Find Device service, which sends your location to the company’s servers so that if you lose your mobile you can find it by making it ring remotely or seeing where you were the last time you connected to the Internet.
How much does Xiaomi Cloud cost
Your Xiaomi account offers you a free storage of 5 GB, which is more than enough for most of the data that you can synchronize, although totally insufficient in case you want to save your photos as well. If you want to do it, you will have to resort to another cloud or pay to expand the storage that Xiaomi offers you.
You can buy more storage capacity from the settings from Xiaomi Cloud. But there is a problem, and that is that the prices are given in HKD, which means Hong Kong dollar. Now, we are going to give you a list with the three rates and their prices converted to euros, which with taxes or some rates may be a little different at the end, but it will help you to know more or less how much they ask you for each one. The rates are different depending on whether you want to pay per year, per quarter or per semester, but we are going to set annual prices for you.
- 50 GB extra: It is the premium rate and costs 98 HKD, which in exchange is about 11 euros per year.
- 200 GB extra: It is the mega rate, and it costs 318 HKD, which in exchange is around 35 euros per year.
- 1 TB extra: It is the ultra rate, and it costs 948 HKD, which is 104 euros per year.
How to access Xiaomi Cloud
To access your Xiaomi Cloud account from your mobile, you have to enter the system settings. Once inside the settings, click on the My Account option that you have with the Xiaomi logo icon.
When you enter Mi Account, you will have some basic information about your Xiaomi account. In here, in the Services category, you have to press where it says Xiaomi Cloud and it tells you how much space you have used in your cloud.
And that’s it. When you do this you will enter the Xiaomi Cloud settings. Here you can configure each of the special functions, and below you will have the list of apps whose data you can sync. Here, you just have to leave everything to your liking.
You can also access the Xiaomi cloud through the browser from any computer, using this web address. You will go to a screen where you can check your contacts, notes and messages, as well as voice recordings. You will also have access to the gallery of synchronized photos, the location of the device and the settings in case you want to change the rate.
