The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will get a makeover on the Xbox One X, including: nicer shadows, Ambient Occlusion & Texture filtering and of course 4K.

When you think of games that deserve to look even fatter, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is probably high on that list. The game was already beautiful when it came out in 2015, but with the upcoming Xbox One X update, the graphics quality should be even better. Xbox had an interview with Jakub Kutrzuba, the lead developer of The Witcher 3, about the improvements that the update will bring.

The update will make it possible to play The Witcher 3 in 4K. In addition, the shadows are made more beautiful, Ambient Occlusion & texture filtering is added and the game gets a performance boost. For the time being, The Witcher 3 on the Xbox One wasn’t playable at 60 fps, so hopefully this will be one of the improvements too.

The Witcher 3 is another old beast, but gamers still love it. Here is Wouter’s review of the base game and Sven has reviewed the two expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. The Witcher 3 is also getting a 4K update for the PS4 Pro, despite the developer previously saying it wasn’t going to happen.
