We delete everything and we start again
While we were rather expecting Beta announcements or certain elements still in suspense partially revealed during the last interviews to date about Wrath of the Lich King Classic, Blizzard has chosen to express itself on the state of the servers. this Monday, June 13, 2022. And not just any: the announcement clearly states that their intention is to deploy so-called “Fresh” servers as soon as the PrePatch of the extension is deployed (the release date of which is still unknown).
This idea echoes the one Blizzard had about WoW Classic Era which was to allow players to restart from scratch on a server where everyone else does the same. In this way, all players who wish to do so start from the same point and no one has to fear the possible problems encountered by players who arrive without having touched the game during the previous expansion, especially in terms of economy!
Temporary server isolation
Since these servers are planned to be available from the PrePatch, Blizzard reminded that all the talents and techniques available with the “new” extension will be accessible on them. However, to access these realms players will need to restart a character from level 1 and progress normally to max level. Later, migrations to these servers will open but some restrictions will be applied temporarily to avoid possible problems inherent to this service:
- For at least 90 days♂ no Sesame can be used on so-called “Fresh” realms
- For at least 90 days, so-called “Fresh” realms will not be able to host character migrations
The opportunity also to specify that the Death Knight, the class introduced by Wrath of the Lich King, will not be accessible on these kingdoms as long as the player does not have at least one level 55 character there. base that was applied to this class but will be removed on “non-Fresh” realms such as Sulfuron or Firemaw.
New starting servers for Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Blizzard is preparing for the launch of Wrath of the Lich King Classic and expanding World of Warcraft Classic progression. Since some will follow The Burning Crusade, but others may want to get a fresh start, and that’s exactly what was announced: fresh start realms from day one. Starting at the same level as everyone else might be what some need to feel like they’re having a more balanced experience.
Those who want to get into Wrath of the Lich King will start on launch day and the game will have all the talent trees and player abilities that come with the update, but you will have access to all the content. Certain rules also apply to those who decide to play on a fresh start server. Since this is a fresh start, there will be no boosting allowed or character transfers to fresh start realms for at least 90 days after launch. For those who wish to create a death knight, it will first be necessary to reach level 55. Other than that, they are looking to create an opportunity for those who would like to join the game but would otherwise feel left out, to start at level 1 with all other players on the same servers.
Blizzard shares more details on the transition to Wrath of the Lich King Classic
With the launch of the pre-expansion patch, the developers plan to open ‘Fresh Start’ realms for players who want to experience a new character alongside a new community.
In addition to addressing a demand the team has seen in players for a long time, the team expects many new Classic players to arrive with Wrath of the Lich King for the first time, and some may have the feeling of being in . Fresh Start realms will give them a chance to be on par with others.
These realms will be Wrath of the Lich King Classic realms at launch, and will have the talent trees and abilities that will be available with the expansion, but all players will start with Tier 1 characters. Fresh Start realms will also have some specifics.
- For at least 90 days, you will not be able to Sesame a character on a Fresh Start realm.
- For at least 90 days, Fresh Start realms will not be possible destinations for Character Transfers.
- Death Knights cannot be created on these realms without a 55 character from the same realm.
All WoW Classic and Burning Crusade dungeons and areas will be unlocked and available on these realms. On all realms, Northrend will be locked until launch.
As a reminder, this is one of the steps the developers are planning over the next few months in preparation for Wrath Classic.
- Removed PvE to PvP transfer restrictions.*
- Wrath Classic closed beta.
- Removed the Classic Era Clone Service.
- Existing kingdoms consolidated.**
- Fresh Start new realms with the Wrath Classic pre-expansion patch.
- Launch of Wrath of the Lich King.
* This will include removing the restriction of owning characters from both factions on a PvP realm.
** Before realm consolidation, the developers will remove the restriction on the number of characters you can create on each realm, up to a limit of 50 characters per account.
The team hopes players will spread out across all available realms as Wrath of the Lich King Classic approaches. For those concerned about faction balance, the developers hope that with this fresh start, things will be balanced for a long time. For those who wish to level up in dungeons, the team hopes that the presence of other players will make this possibility feasible.
