You can now test video calls with Meet Now in one click if you use Windows 10 May 2019 Update with the latest Build
In a time like the one we are living in, we have seen teleworking grow significantly and a direct consequence of this change in the way of developing work activity has been the rise of teleworking. applications for making calls and video calls.
These types of tools, widely used also for leisure and family relationships now that we are estranged, have examples (Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Zoom) that have been a great success in downloads and in user adoption. Skype is one of them and Microsoft wants to take advantage of its popularity offering a shortcut for calls on the taskbar thanks to Meet Now.
Video calls in one click
With increasingly fierce competition, with applications like Zoom in the foreground, Microsoft does not want to miss the opportunity to position itself with its own alternative and is already testing a shortcut to make video calls with Meet Now in a single click.
For those who do not know Meet Now, it is a function that allows the user to contact another person even if they are not a Skype user. You can set up a Skype call and share the link with other users even if they don’t use Skype.
It is about making it easier for users to access an increasingly demanded function without having to install any application on their computer and also making access as easy as possible. Therefore, access to Meet Now is a reality that I had already tested since Build 20221 but also with the cumulative update 18362.1171 for Windows 10 May 2019 Update. This is the statement from Microsoft:
“Today, we are pleased to share that we will expand this capability in Windows 10 by bringing Meet Now directly to the taskbar. In the coming weeks, you will be able to easily set up a video call and communicate with friends and family in an instant by clicking the Meet Now icon. in the notification area of the taskbar. No registrations or downloads required. “
To test this shortcut to Meet Now on the taskbar, you just have to click on the “Meet Now” shortcut in the notification area (system tray) to initiate a call with any of the contacts on our agenda.
