Due to global corona measurements, the E3 2020 canceled. This means that this summer you can’t watch the live shows with a thermos of coffee until the wee hours of the morning. Also, the endless review of all the ups and downs of the in-game lounge is not included. Nothing, noppes, nada.
However, that doesn’t mean it will be a kid-free summer. More and more developers and publishers are offering a digital alternative in which they present their games, consoles and services for this fall. The gap left by the deleted E3 exchange is therefore well filled.
Take your diary, because in this overview you will find all events online this summer (in chronological order).
Summer Game Fest
Date: May 12 to August 14, 2020
Most of the events below fall under the Summer Game Fest umbrella. It’s not so much a show, but see it as a summer season full of events that many major editors are involved in. For example, new demos, trailers and interviews are regularly shown. Geoff Keighley, game journalist and organizer of The Game Awards, takes care of the previews and reflections.
PlayStation State of Play: Ghost of Tsushima
Date: May 14, 2020 – 10:00 p.m.
In the last state of play, Sony has already briefly shown something about Ghost of Tsushima, but this presentation is all about the latest game from Sucker Punch Productions. The eighteen-minute gameplay state will feature new gameplay footage and more in-game combat and exploration details.

Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition
Date: June 9-14, 2020
Valve is shining a light on the games coming out this year in a slightly different way. During the Steam Game Festival, you will have the opportunity to play limited time demos and optionally add full games directly to your Wishlist in Steam.

Electronic Arts has been celebrating its own party since last year and sees no reason to cancel it for this year. News is expected to arrive on FIFA, Star Wars, Battlefield, Apex Legends, The Sims and maybe a whole new IP.

Microsoft will be providing periodic updates on the future of Xbox through the end of the year. Every month there is a live feed of all developments regarding Xbox Series X, Xbox Game Studios, Xbox Game Pass, and Project xCloud. The first showcase was mainly for third-party games, while in June “the Xbox platform and services” are at the center.

Ubisoft is launching a new event under the name Ubisoft Forward. In the digital alternative to E3’s annual showcase, alongside already launched games such as For Honor, The Division 2 and Rainbow Six Siege, it revolves around news around Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs 2 , Gods & Monsters and undoubtedly new games unveiled.

Night City Wire (Cyberpunk 2077)

Thanks to Keanu Reeves, Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most talked about games during E3 2019. CD Projekt RED has already made us curious with a lot of gameplay and is gradually increasing the hype with the Night City Wire online event. .

Nintendo has postponed the usual E3 Direct until the end of the summer, according to sources. The cause is the delay in the development of various games caused by the corona outbreak. The Direct is rumored to be primarily dominated by older Mario games making a return to the Switch.

Devolver Digital is a pretty stubborn editor. This is proven not only by the games the studio is releasing, but also by the annual, to say the least, crazy E3 press conferences. The pulp of the top shelf and for that reason alone is worth a look.
More publishers are expected to join their own online event in the coming period. In addition to some of the above studios, Bethesda, Square Enix, Activision, Blizzard, 2K Games, Bungie, Warner Bros., Riot Games, Private Division, and Bandai Namco Entertainment are partners of the Summer Game Fest.
