Dozens of Amazon Game Studios employees lost their position at the company at the end of last week, according to Kotaku’s report.
Employees affected by this layoff have 60 days to find a new position on Amazon, otherwise they will receive a compensation package. One of the affected people confirmed that several unannounced games were also canceled.
Amazon did not disclose how many employees were affected, but sent a statement confirming that “Amazon Game Studios is reorganizing some of its teams to allow us to prioritize the production of New World, Crucible and unannounced projects”.
Despite the success, the company stresses that “we are highly committed to video games and continue to invest heavily in Amazon Game Studios, Twitch, Twitch Prime, AWS, our retail business and other areas within Amazon”.
At the moment we only know two games in production on Amazon: New World and Crucible, both presented in 2016. At that time another game called Breakaway was announced, but it was canceled in 2017.
