After the COVID-19 pandemic, the recession will probably hit. It is that the fall in consumption and the growing unemployment rate, logical consequences of the quarantine, will hit families and small businesses squarely.
Political leaders around the world are pressuring multinationals to “earn a little less” and collaborate while the emergency situation lasts. Apple has made a move and, in an effort to relieve its customers, deferred the expiration dates of the Apple Card.
Together with Goldman Sachs (who commercially operates the accounts) they are allowing Apple Card holders to defer their April payments without penalty.
Unfortunately, many people are already suffering from the “post-Coronavirus era”. Some have seen their income decrease, others have directly lost their jobs.
And while it is true that Apple’s proposal will not save the world economy, nor will it represent a great financial effort, it may be a relief for some families.
Specifically, Apple Card users will be able to defer their April maturities without incurring interest or penalties.
How to exceptionally defer the expiration dates of the Apple Card?
To apply this exceptional assistance regime, Apple Card users must contact a customer service representative through “Wallet”, the iOS application.
Through a statement, those of Cupertino informed their clients that: “We understand that the Covid-19 situation poses unique challenges for everyone and some clients may have difficulties making their monthly payments.” And they warn “If you previously enrolled in the Customer Assistance Program in March, you will need to enroll again.”
Let us remember that this is a measure that was also implemented in March. So it is possible to imagine a new postponement in May (not yet confirmed). In any case, it is possible to recognize this type of action. Corporate responsibility is not common currency.
“If you previously enrolled in the Customer Assistance Program in March, you will need to enroll again,” Apple warns…
NOTE: The Apple Card was released on August 20, 2019. Its development, as stated, is handled by Goldman Sachs. Although its objective is operations through Apple Pay, it is also available in a “physical” format (titanium) for all types of purchases.
