In a few weeks, gamers will have the opportunity to re-enter the world of Assassin’s Creed with the new chapter Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, set in the Viking Age.

As a series, AC is known for its links to past chapters and the countless surprises that occasionally amaze players. What unexpected experiences will await us in this new iteration?

Of course, we can’t know for sure, yet it seems a fan has already created an interesting and plausible theory that would link Valhalla with a previous chapter. Specifically, the Reddit user Bool0011, would argue that Eivor is the ancestor of Shay, protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Rogue.

If I fall for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, it will be because of an idea from more than 10 years ago: the Monteriggioni of Assassin's Creed 2

For those who don’t remember, Shay Cormac is a former assassin turned Templar, who lived in the eighteenth century, in an adventure set chronologically shortly before the events of AC: Unity, set in the French Revolution.

On what basis is the user theory based? Quite simply in Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Shay owns a medallion on which theYggdrasil, the World Tree of Norse mythology. This symbol is obviously present in all the stories about the Vikings and also in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will make its appearance, as already noted in several gameplay trailers. Hence, the theory that Shay owns this medallion as a memento of his ancestors, in this case the killer Eivor.

How licensee Serge Hascoet influenced Ubisoft games using examples from Assassin's Creed

The most interesting thing about this theory? Bool0011 submitted his thesis directly to the narrative director of AC: Valhalla and his response was … less cryptic than expected:

I can only say that in a few months someone could unearth this tweet and enjoy their own prophetic light.“.

What bool0011 got us right? Could Eivor be related to another well-known character?

We will most likely find out starting next November 10, when Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be released on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and Google Stadia, as well as on PS5 starting November 19.
