And this will only be the beginning of your journey. Returning to the Forgotten Realms, players will face many challenges in a tale of camaraderie and betrayal, sacrifice and survival – and the lure of absolute power.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive, cinematic, player-decided RPG based on 5e-D&D. It offers versatile character creation, where players can create an avatar based on 16 different D&D races and subraces, choose their “cantrips”, skills & abilities, and enter a world where their actions really determine the story.
Baldur’s Gate 3 expands Larian’s story-driven gameplay with cinematic storytelling and lets the dice decide at important moments – in and out of combat. Dialogue options often have multiple answers, and some answers may require a dice roll to succeed, determined by both luck and the player character’s attributes or the circumstances of the situation.

The Forgotten Realms is a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered everywhere – verticality is an integral part of exploration. Players can sneak, dive, slide, climb, and jump as they journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How they survive and what mark they leave in the world depends on them:
- The online multiplayer mode for up to four players allows players to join forces in battle and split their party to pursue their own quests and agendas. They can hatch the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when their friends aren’t expecting it.
- Advanced turn-based combat, based on the D&D 5e rule set. Team-based initiative, pros and cons, and role modifiers combine combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and forethought.
- The future of the forgotten realms determine players through their own decisions and the dice. No matter who you play or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will respond to your story.
- The player-initiated turn-based mode allows players to pause the world around them at any time, even outside of combat. Whether they see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before the fight begins, whether they want to pinpoint a heist, or need to escape a devilish trap. They can split their party, set ambushes, sneak into the dark – and create their own fortune!
Baldur’s Gate 3 launches today in Early Access on Steam, GOG, Google Stadia, and Mac, marking the beginning of the games’ journey to full release.
