Bandai Namco works on Metroid Prime 4
This week various rumors have appeared on the network that Bandai Namco is the study in charge of the development of Metroid Prime 4, and several sources have confirmed to Eurogamer that the information is correct.
The long-awaited Nintendo Switch exclusive is being carried out, specifically, by Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, which we understand is leading the project in collaboration with Nintendo. This studio has some former members of LucasArts Singapore, who had worked, among other things, on the ambitious Star Wars 1313, already canceled.
Metroid Prime 4 was announced solely by logo during E3 2017; At the time Nintendo did not want to say the name of the developer behind the project, although it did confirm that it was not Retro Studios, responsible for the original Metroid Prime trilogy.
It’s still in a relatively early stage of development, and nothing seems to indicate that Metroid Prime 4 is coming this year.
This week different users found quite interesting descriptions on LinkedIn, and rumors began to appear on Resetera.
Specifically, the Press-Start page assured that Bandai Namco staff members did not put much effort into hiding that they were working on something really exciting. In their profile descriptions you can read that they are in charge of a “secret” game, an “ambitious AAA title”, a “very interesting unannounced project” and a game about which we will have “more exciting details soon (or later! !) “.
For more details, a member of the team who occupies the position of lead designer assures that they are working “on an unannounced IP (first person shooter / adventure exclusive to Nintendo Switch)”. It also references that they are monitoring a console exclusive Ridge Racer 8, something that we at Eurogamer have yet to verify.
We have contacted Nintendo, but their response has been that they do not comment on rumors or speculation. That was seen coming.
