We know that a new Call of Duty is coming up in 2021, but as always, the Activision hasn’t revealed any real details about the game yet. Of course, that’s where leaks come in. We have already heard from several trusted insider sources that Call of Duty 2021 will be fully developed by Sledgehammer Games, and now new rumors about the game scenario have emerged.

Well-known Call of Duty insider Victor Z, who leaked a variety of accurate details about CoD: Black Ops Cold War, seems to be joking that we’re going back to World War II. He posted the following teaser, featuring a sledgehammer emoji and a Call of Duty: WWII artwork.

When another Twitter user asked if a futuristic “Third World War” game might be in progress, the leaker clarified that it would be a WWII game.

So far, nothing has been confirmed, but Charlie Intel is apparently agreeing with that rumor, and Sledgehammer going back to World War II would make sense. CoD: WW2 was well received so it makes sense.

Sledgehammer has undergone a turnaround in recent years, starting with the departure of co-founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey in 2018. That said, Activision is building Sledgehammer, with the goal of making it a multi-project studio.

Guerrilla Warfare

Call of Duty has undeniably already become one of the biggest, if not the biggest, gaming franchises. Thanks to a frantic pace of annual releases, the property has become the absolute leader in the FPS genre.

Thanks to this, it has become a habit to speculate which will be the next title in the saga in the beginning of the year. Now, it looks like we finally have more concrete information about the 2021 release.

Leaker Tom Henderson, known for leaking lots of information about Call of Duty and BF posted a cryptic photo on his Twitter. In the post in question, Tom placed a photo of a Gorilla alongside Modern Warfare.

This has started a series of speculations, where many have come to believe that the name of the game will be Guerrilla Warfare. Now, other credible CoD sources attest to the information.

The ModernWarzone page, known for its impeccable work covering the series, made a post indicating that the game will be set in the 50’s, more specifically in the Korean War. Right after the post, the profile mysteriously deleted the information.
