Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Screenshots.
character: Captain Price, Gaz, Kamarov
level: Black out. Rescue operation of the Russian informant Nikiloa from the hands of the Russian Ultranationalists.
Markus Peekna, Studio Character Artist: “The SAS jerseys in the original game were restructured versions of a jacket. Although this was a legitimate and resourceful solution at the time, we quickly decided to design outfits for Price and his crew.”
Character: Captain MacMillan
level: One Shot One Kill. Flashback scene with Lieutenant Price, as he and Captain MacMillan try to neutralize Russian arms dealer Imran Zakhaev.
Charles Morrow, Creative Visual Director: “Designing the Chernobyl reactor, surrounded by forests, from a sniper’s perspective – in addition to the minuscule details in the foreground – was a fun challenge. The way a world is created has changed. In Modern Warfare, a window frame was created with one or two mouse moves. In this scene, the window frame is modeled entirely, and even has an internal structure.
Character: Enemy soldier
Level: Heat. Captain Price and the SAS go after a high-profile target in a remote village heavily guarded by enemy groups.
Ryan Butts, Lead Artist: “The team designed each character as if it were the main character of the game. This image shows one of the enemies; from the gloves to the respirator, every seam and every stitch has been carefully designed to create the most real feel possible.”
Character: Captain MacMillan
Level: All Gillied Up. Flashback scene featuring Lieutenant Price as he and Captain MacMillan infiltrate enemy territory to intercept and stop an illegal arms deal.
Ryan Butts, Lead Artist: “The Ghillie gear is one of the most iconic pieces of the Modern Warfare franchise. The goal was to make this as realistic as possible, not only when the character moves, but also through the wind, for example. This adds a new dimension of realism to the mission.
Character: Captain Price and Griggs
Level: No Fighting in the War Room. Running through the underground bunker to avoid the launch of the nuclear missiles.
Markus Peekna, Studio Character Artist: “Most attention during the design review went to Captain Price. From the smallest details like pores, the depth of his crow’s feet and imperfections of his skin to the shape of his facial hair. Everything has been re-examined to make it more vibrant than ever. We felt a responsibility to stay as close to the original character as possible, but at the same time bring him to the present day, in an age of video games with very high quality.”
Character: Imran Zakhaev
Level: The coup. Zahaev is the man who pulled the strings of Khaled Al-Asad during the assassination of President Yasir Al-Fulani.
Charles Morrow, Creative Director Visual: “Our goal with Imram was to differentiate him from his son, Viktor. Imran as the wise strategist, more focused on results than himself, and Viktor, who likes to be in the spotlight. To enhance the contrast between the two, Imran has developed blotchy skin from too much sun exposure and unkempt hair. In The Coup you can even see the gray hairs coming out of his ears. He lives for his country, is selfless and doesn’t care what he looks like. It is irrelevant to his strategy.”
