- The game progress in Warzone, Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War is linked
- There are then 55 Military Ranks
- There are also season levels for individual seasons
The three Call of Duty titles Warzone, Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War get a kind of common prestige system, which Activision has now revealed. It was already known that Black Ops Cold War would also be combined with the free-to-play title Warzone as part of the first Cold War season from December, but it was not yet entirely clear what that would look like.
Now we know that season 1 will also see cross-title, synchronized game progress that is valid in Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare and Warzone. Black Ops Cold War will also receive a Prestige system, Activision says.
After the start of Black Ops Cold War, the ranks to be achieved are called Military Ranks. These go from one to 55, like the previously valid enlisted ranks. This system is synchronized between all three games. The idea behind this is that you can level up and get XP no matter which of the games you play. Progress is made in the usual way, for example in multiplayer mode, completing challenges or in Warzone games – Black Ops Cold War Zombies also shares the progress with the other parts.
In addition to these military ranks, there are also the so-called season levels. These are roughly equivalent to the previous Officer Ranks and measure progress over a season. This can also be obtained in all three games from December 2020. The seasonal missions are specially designed for Black Ops Cold War and there are XP events and other additional benefits, which is probably the fastest way to collect progress.
All levels will be reset at the start of the first season of Black Ops Cold War in Modern Warfare and Warzone to synchronize progress in all three games. But don’t worry, it will only reset your XP – everything that you previously unlocked, such as weapons, perks and killstreaks in Modern Warfare, will remain available.
Furthermore, it was already known that the weapons from Cold War and Modern Warfare would also be usable in Warzone. Here, too, there will be joint game progress: You can upgrade weapons both in Warzone and in the respective game from which the weapon originally came. Activision says that Warzone should ultimately have all primary and secondary weapons released in the course of Black Ops Cold War, including all drafts and seasonal weapons. The previous equipment from Modern Warfare, which is already included in Warzone, will remain there. According to Activision, the “current plans” also provide that all weapons in Modern Warfare that you have developed further, as well as all unlocks (such as the Damascus or Obsidian camouflage) will be retained.
Now to the characters: at the start you can take any character you unlocked in Modern Warfare or Black Ops Cold War with you to Warzone, including all skins you own. As soon as Black Ops Cold War appears, the selection screen for characters in Warzone will be expanded. There is only one exception: the well-known operator Frank Woods. This is only available as a bonus for Black Ops Cold War if pre-ordered.
In the meantime, of course, the current Battle Pass remains, which also ensures overall progress. Only here is there a small exception: content that will be included in the Battle Pass in the future, such as weapons or operators, is ultimately only available in Cold War and Warzone, Modern Warfare is empty here.
As recently announced, the game will appear uncut in Germany and therefore be approved for people aged 18 and over. The contents are therefore identical to the international version.
You can pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in various editions for PS4 and as a cross-gen bundle in the PlayStation Store.
