CD Projekt RED again insisted that first person perspective was the right choice for Cyberpunk 2077.
The camera perspective has been a topic of debate among fans since the game was introduced. There are those who say that the game should be in the third person, or that at least it should offer this option to the players.
Max Pears, level designer in Cyberpunk 2077, defended the perspective in the first person during the Tokyo Game Show 2019, telling the Video Games Chronicle that they thought a lot about this decision and that there is a logic.
“In the demo from last year you saw the interactive dialogue system, where someone pointed a gun at you. I don’t think it would necessarily have the same impact on the third person,” said Pears. “It is moments like this that make you feel that it is your story and your character.”
“There are clearly some people who are really strong and passionate about this issue, but I believe this is the right choice for the game.”
The designer concluded by saying that he hopes that when people try the game, they will understand why they chose this direction. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16 for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
