The Evil Within 2 (2017)

The original game received a flurry of praise, but that sequence didn’t do so well. However, it’s not that the game is bad, it’s just another underestimate. The first point is that the original has built up a solid fan base, so it’s no surprise that the new version didn’t get that much attention.

The Evil Within 2 is not as exciting as the first, however, the third-person horror game grows excellently and continues the story in an incredible way, being one of the best in terms of terror of the decade.

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare (2016)

It may seem strange to put a Call Of Duty game on a list of underestimated games because we are talking about one of the biggest franchises in history. However, Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare really failed to achieve the same esteem and level of enthusiasm as the other games in the series.

One of the points considered as a reason for disapproval is the fact that the game was set in the future. But if you sit down and play, you will realize that you were missing out on a great game. The story is interesting and even has zombies and online map mode that make things cooler.

MAG (2010)

(Source: Playstation / Disclosure)

MAG is the acronym for Massive Action Game. Superficially, we have a multiplayer first person shooter. What puts this game among one of the most underestimated of the last decade was its own ambition for the time, especially since it is a game of its kind.

To give you an idea, the matches could involve 256 players, all battling on maps of considerable size and with the most diverse designs. PlanetSide 2 subsequently stole its title. It was a technical achievement that the PS3 could be proud of.

Wolfenstein: The New Order (2014)

Another great game that was underestimated in the decade. Despite having six years since its launch, Wolfenstein: The New Order remains attractive today. That’s because New Order decided to develop the game with a touch of retro, which allowed it to be timeless.

It provides a different narrative than what we are used to when it comes to video games related to war themes. In addition, we have a brilliant protagonist, tons of weapons and an unfolding that manages to arrest people.

Dragon Age 2 (2011)

(Source: Origin / Disclosure)

Although not as big as the other games and being affected by not being planned to be a complete sequel, Dragon Age 2 deserves its spotlight. Despite the repetition of the action and the lack of variety of enemies, the combat provided by the game is the point that deserves to be highlighted.

Spec-Ops: The Line (2012)

Underestimated, but it is certainly a game that is part of the “hidden items” of many people. This action game was developed by Yager Development. In the plot, the player takes on the role of captain Marin Walker, responsible for doing a reconnaissance mission with an elite team in a post-catastrophe Dubai.

The point is that Walker goes through some crises and begins to hallucinate. Gradually deteriorating, he realizes the horrors of war and that he has responsibility in them. The gameplay is well done, the story has interesting twists and the best part is that the whole set makes it different from other games of the genre, a rare thing. But despite successfully achieving this, it was neglected commercially.

Tesla vs Lovecraft (2018)

Although many people turn their heads when they hear about this game, the fact is that this indie game is worth playing, especially for those who like things a little off the beaten track, like some ideas to see, but that make sense in the set.

It all starts when horror writer HP Lovecraft becomes possessed and steals an invention from Nikola Tesla. After that, he opens a wormhole to bring about the end of the world. The player, in the person of Tesla, has a series of weapons and teleportation resources that change with the progress of the game, all to prevent the apocalypse.

The cool thing here is that the developers 10Tons managed to make a good, frantic and fast game without sinning too much in any of these aspects. It is worth being included in the list of those to be checked.

Driver San Francisco (2011)

(Source: Ubisoft / Disclosure)

Not much talked about and, perhaps for this reason, underestimated, Driver San Francisco has its own dynamics and the ability to hold the least demanding players. The big hook of this game was to allow the protagonist to take any car to finish his mission. In other words, it is not necessary to get out of the car and steal another vehicle, it was enough that the line of action was changed to an uninterrupted pursuit. A good title to make time go by without realizing it.

Rage 2 (2019)

(Source: Bethesda / Disclosure)

More recently, Rage 2 received mixed reactions when it was released in early 2019. One of the main attractions was the game’s update system that allowed players to customize their character so that it appeared as a standout of strength. Also, just like in the original, shooting gameplay is something to be respected.

These are just a few of the most underrated, but it goes much further. For example, some other titles that can be reserved without fear for a later look and that can appear as an honorable mention are:

  • Counter Spy (2014)
  • Mad Max (2015)
  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
  • Pathologic 2 (2019)
  • The Missing: JJ Macfield and the Island of Memories (2018)
  • Echo (2017) FIFA Street (2012)
  • Watch Dogs 2 (2016)
  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Freedom Cry (2013)
  • Binary Domain (2012)
  • Sleeping Dogs (2012)
  • Remember Me (2013)
  • Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (2013)

Now just enjoy!
