Despite presenting its problems, the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 is far above the console versions and Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve, says that this is very noticeable in customer satisfaction on Steam.
Newell says he doesn’t like to criticize other publishers and that CD Projekt RED deserves respect for the scale and grandeur of the work he tried to achieve, something he can easily see in Cyberpunk 2077, a game he refers to as brilliant.
Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the big issues of the moment and much has been said about the state of the game, especially on consoles, but it was still one of the best selling games of 2020 and entered 2021 to top the bestseller list on Steam. For those same reasons, it was one of the topics Newell was asked about in a recent interview.
“I have a lot of sympathy for a situation that all studios find themselves in. All I know is that there are lots of happy players in the PC space, the ones that are most visible to us, “said Newell (thanks to Wccftech).
“There are aspects of the game that are just brilliant and reveal a tremendous amount of work, it is unfair to throw stones at any other studio because the simple fact of launching something as complex and ambitious as that is really amazing. “
Newell believes that, like Valve in other situations, CD Projekt RED is navigating this troubled period with the intention of discovering how it can improve and make its customers happy again.
“They have a long history of good work, of continuing to invest in their products over time, and I believe they will do a good job to make their customers happy over time.”
CD Projekt RED is working on updates for Cyberpunk 2077 and hopes to fix the vast majority of bugs over the next few weeks, while the free DLC is for later. After that, it will work on the free updates for PS5 and Xbox Series.
In this same interview, Newell confirmed that they are working on new projects, while also showing interest in developing singleplayer games.
