It’s only been two days since Activision-Blizzard announced that Shadowlands, the latest expansion for World of Warcraft, had become the best launch ever on PC, but that record has now been broken.

As you can imagine, the game to achieve it is Cyberpunk 2077. Shadowlands had managed to sell more than 3.7 million copies in its first day, but as CD Projekt Red has revealed, its new action RPG had already exceeded eight million of copies with reservations.

The Polish company itself points out that 59% of the reservations were for the PC version (74% of which were in digital format), which means that 4.72 million copies had already been sold on launch day from Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch is not likely

These are spectacular figures, of course, but to some extent predictable. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated titles since it was announced eight years ago, and as of today it can be enjoyed both on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Versions optimized for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S will be published in 2021, on a specific date yet to be determined.
