Cyberpunk 2077 saw a drop of more than 80% in Steam players
The number of players who stopped playing Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam dropped three times faster than happened with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the previous game from CD Projekt RED.
Cyberpunk 2077 was anticipated as one of the most desired games throughout its long development and was received with incredible enthusiasm, breaking sales records even before it hit stores. However, less than a month after launch and despite remaining the best seller on Steam for 7 consecutive weeks, it has lost almost 80% of players.
If in the launch week more than 1 million players were registered on Steam, today Cyberpunk 2077 registered a peak of almost 154 thousand players strolling through Night City, with a total of more than 128 thousand at the time of writing.
According to Githyp, thanks to VGC247, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt took 3 months to register this drop of more than 80% in its number of players, talking about two purely singleplayer games.
