Demon’s Souls Boss Weapons: All recipes for forging Boss Souls from Blacksmith Ed

Demon’s Soul adopts a weapon creation process with the souls of defeated Bosses exactly the same as that of Dark Souls. This means that you will have to start with a normal weapon, perhaps upgrade it to a certain level and then transform it into a new version based on the soul of the boss.

So forget the convenience of Dark Souls 2 and 3, where it was enough to exchange souls to get weapons in exchange. In Demon’s Souls you have to know the recipes by heart and get the right ingredients to forge some of the most powerful weapons ever. In this guide we will see how the upgrading of weapons with the souls of the bosses works and above all the complete list of all the recipes, as well as a brief comment on the weapon in question.

In this page:

How to forge weapons with boss souls

This option is not available from the beginning of the adventure: the Nexus blacksmith, in fact, is only a beginner able to apply basic infusions and to evolve weapons only along the more traditional path. Sure, you can use it to forge regular weapons up to +10, but it won’t be able to manipulate boss souls.

The blacksmith you are looking for is in fact Ed, and is located at Archstone 2-1, which is the first of the Stonefang Tunnel. To reach it you have to take the Shortcut Elevator and go down to the ground floor, where its forge resides. But that’s not all.

Unlock Advanced Forging:

  • First you need a Glowing Soul. The only way to get this item is to defeat the Flamelurker, the boss of the Archstone 2-2 of the Stonefang Tunnels, the fiery demon who resides at the end of the tunnels invaded by fire snails.
  • Be very careful, therefore, not to consume the Glowing Soul in any way, because you will have to deliver it to Blacksmith Ed to unlock the related upgrade paths.
  • At this point, you just need to introduce yourself to Ed after giving him the soul to access the advanced enhancement: you must find the ingredients, in this case a basic weapon and a soul to carry out the evolution, and after paying the price you can get your hands on your new weapon.

The complete list of boss anime forged weapons

The names may not correspond to the new Italian adaptation.

Here is the complete list of all the weapons that can be forged with the souls of the bosses in Demon’s Souls:

    • Blueblood sword: You need a Thoroughbred Demon Soul and a + 0 Broken Sword to forge it. The soul is a drop of Astraea, a demon located at the bottom of the Valley of Decay. It is a longsword that climbs on Fortune, stat that raises both physical and magical damage. Photo.
    • Dozing Ax: Requires a Gray Demon Soul and any Ax + 6 or Halberd + 6. Soul is a demonic vanguard drop that can be found at the first Archstone of the Shrine of Storms. It is a purely Force weapon, very powerful because it can be used two-handed with only 20 Force points. Photo.
    • Catalyst of Madness: Requires a Yellow Demon Soul and a + 0 Black or Silver Catalyst. The soul is a drop from the Old Monk, the final boss of the Latria Tower. It has devastating magical scaling, but cuts character’s MP in half. Photo.
    • Research Broadsword: Requires a Hero Demon Soul and any + 8 Curved Sword. The soul is the drop of the Ancient Hero, boss of the archstone 4-2 at the Shrine of Storms. It looks like a very weak weapon, in fact it is. But it actually doubles your drop odds, so it’s a must-have item for any collector player. Photo.
    • Arc of Magma: Requires a Hard Demon Soul and any Bow + 7. The soul is the drop of the Armored Spider, the first boss of the Stonefang Tunnels. In addition to the large stat, it has a secret bonus that is not reported anywhere: each arrow adds 100 of Fire damage, a bonus that scales further on the Magic stat. This is a hateful weapon in PvP in the sense that if you use it they will hate you. Photo.
    • Big Cleaver: Here we are at the strongest weapon in all of Demon’s Souls. You need a Referee Demon Soul and a Big Mace / Mace + 0, or any Hammer + 6 (for example the pickaxe). The soul is the drop of the Demon Arbiter, the first boss of the Shrine of Storms. This weapon scales S on Strength and Dexterity and also regenerates HP with each hit. As if that weren’t enough, it also scales on Faith and can be infused with Fire, so it’s the strongest weapon ever. Photo
    • Morion Blade: Requires a Storm Demon soul and any + 8 Sword or + 8 Greatsword. Soul is the drop of the King of Storms, the last boss of the Shrine of Storms. The effect of the weapon is to increase the damage dealt by 60% if your HP is less than 30% of the total. In short, it is a decent weapon, but considering the low scalings it is nothing special. Photo
    • Needle of Eternal Agony: Requires a Mestizo Demon Soul and any + 7 Dagger or + 7 Rapier. The soul is the drop of Mangiauomini, the difficult boss that protects Alta Latria in the Tower of Latria. This weapon allows you to get 20 souls for each hit inflicted on an enemy. Unfortunately, the damage is useless, so the weapon itself becomes hardly usable in practice. Photo
    • Regalia of the North: The hardest weapon to obtain in the game. To build it, you need a Soulbrandt, a Demonbrandt and the False King Demon Soul, which is dropped by King Allant himself at the end of the Boletaria Palace. The weapon is devastating to say the least because it scales on the Trend: if you have Pure White or Pure Black Tendency the base damage rises up to the astronomical figure of 540. If you want to know how to get all the pieces, we have written a dedicated guide on the related page to the best weapons in the game.
    • Scraper lance: For this weapon you need the soul of Phalanx, the first boss in the game at the Boletaria Palace, and any + 7 Spear. Why did we put it last? Well, because it’s the strongest weapon in the PvP game. The hidden effect of this Spear literally destroys the opponent’s weapons. Deals 10 damage to the Durability of other players’ items for each hit. Photo
