Descent of Dragons expansion, update to Battlegrounds and more in Hearthstone patch.
Blizzard has released a major update for Hearthstone. Not only is there a new expansion called Descent of Dragons, players of the brand new game mode Battlegrounds can also expect a lot of new content.
It’s that time of year again when a new expansion is coming to Hearthstone. Descent of Dragons adds 140 new cards and some new mechanics. But that’s not all. The recently released Battlegrounds game mode is also receiving a number of updates.
Descent of Dragons
- Galakrond: five legendary Galakrond Hero cards are added to the game. During the game, they can receive an upgrade twice by playing a card with the mechanic Invoke. See below the five cards and an example of these upgrades.
- Invoke: Galakrond can be upgraded by playing a card with Invoke. If you do this you also get an extra bonus, different per Hero.
- Sidequests: previously we saw quests, which are difficult to complete and give a big reward. Side quests are easier to complete and have a smaller bonus. It’s that simple.
- Dragons: as the name of the expansion says, a lot of new dragons are coming to the game. They are quite strong, so if you like dragons a bit, this is the extension for you. You can view all new maps here.
- Pre-Purchase: The expansion will go live on Tuesday, but until then you can still choose from two bundles to pre-order. Check them out below.
Battlegrounds
Three new Heroes are coming to Battlegrounds, where five old Heroes have to make way for.
- New Heroes
- Edwin VanCregen: Hero Power costs 1, with the text: ‘Give a minion + 1 / + 1 for each minion you’ve bought this turn.
- Sylvanas Windrunner: Hero Power costs 0, with the text: ‘Remove a friendly minion to give adjacent minions + 1 / + 1.’
- Arch-Villain Rafaam: Hero Power costs 1, with the text: ‘Next combat, add a plain copy of the first minion you kill to your hand.’

- Patches the Pirate
- Bartendotron
- Pyramad
- Professor Putricide
- Trade Prince Gallywix
In addition, two new minions have been added to the game mode, which have to strengthen Murlocs and Demons.
General
- Next week we will finally get a new shop, which will hopefully function a little better than the current one.
- The Priest Hero Tyrandeisfree for everyone from 10 December.
- Sylvanas Windrunner is the newest skin for Hunter, which you can pick up for € 10.
- Lately we were able to play with some classic cards that are no longer in Standard, but that will end next week. It’s time for a new generation.
- With the Winter Veil Wonder Bundle, you get six packs of the Saviors of Uldum, Rise of Shadows, The Witchwood, The Boomsday Project and Rastakhan’s Rumble expansions. You also get the new Druid Hero Hazelbark and his Card Back. All for € 24.99.
