Driver download for ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series

Owners of Radeon HD 4600 series graphics cards: 4650 or 4670 models can install software to further enhance and tune their graphics adapter. This can be done in different ways.

Software Installation for ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series

ATI graphics cards, along with support for their products, became part of AMD Corporation several years ago, so all software can now be downloaded from this site.

The 4600 series models are fairly outdated devices and you shouldn’t expect new software for them. However, after reinstalling the operating system and in case of problems with the current driver, you will need to download the basic or advanced driver. Let’s take a closer look at the download and installation process.

Method 1: AMD Official Site

Since AMD bought ATI, now all the software for these video cards is downloaded from their website. Follow these steps:

Go to AMD support page

Using the link above, go to the official AMD website.

In the product selection block, click on the desired item from the list to open an additional menu on the right: Graphics > AMD Radeon HD > ATI Radeon HD 4000 Series > your graphics card model. Once you have decided for a specific model, confirm your choice with the “Submit” button.

A list of available versions of the operating system will be displayed. Since the device is old, it is not optimized for modern Windows 10, but users of this operating system can download the version for Windows 8. Expand the required file tab depending on the version and bit depth of your system. Find the Catalyst Software Suite file and download it by clicking the button of the same name.

Instead, you can choose the latest bet driver. It differs from the standard version by a later release date with the removal of certain bugs. For example, in the case of Windows 8 x64, the stable version has a revision number of 13.1, Beta – 13.4. The difference is small and often lies in minor fixes, which can be found by clicking on the “Driver Details” spoiler.

Run the Catalyst installer, change the save path if desired, and click Install.

The decompression of the installer files will start, wait for it to finish.

The Catalyst Installation Manager opens. In the first window, you can select the desired language of the installer interface and click “Next”.

In the window with the option of the installation operation, select «Install» .

Here, first select the installation direction or leave it as default, then its type – “Quick” or “Custom” – and go to the next step. A brief system scan will be performed. In the case of a quick installation, you will be transferred immediately to a new stage, while a custom one allows you to cancel the installation of the AMD APP SDK Runtime component.

A window will appear with a license agreement, where you must accept its terms.

Method 2: Third-party software

Method 3: Identification of the video card

Each connected device has a personal identifier. User can search for driver by ID by downloading current or previous version. This method will be useful if the latest versions are unstable and incorrect with the installed operating system. In this case, the “Device Manager” system tool and special online services with extensive driver databases will be used.

Method 4: Device Manager

If you don’t want to install the Catalyst software separately and just need to get a basic driver from Microsoft, this is the way to go. Thanks to it, it will be possible to change the screen resolution to a higher one than that offered by standard Windows functions.
