While theE3 and the Tokyo Game Show were canceled, China just held its biggest game show, Chine Joy, complete with booths, demo stations and cosplayers.

China Joy started on July 31. During pre-registration, visitors had to present their health codes to prove that they were in good health and that they did not have COVID-19. The codes, tracked through the app, indicate whether a person has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Inside the show there were temperature controls and stations for hand sanitizing. Security patrolled the building instead, reminding people to wear masks.

Attendance declined due to the Coronavirus, but the show nonetheless attracted around 400 exhibitors spread over an area of 125,000 square meters. However, physical separation could not be implemented, as photos circulating on Twitter show rallies. Space also for cosplayers who have taken photos with fans and been in photoshoots.
