EA SPORTS REVEALS PLANNING FOR FIFA 23 ESPORTS ECOSYSTEM.
Electronic Arts Inc. today announced an enhanced, redesigned EA SPORTS™ FIFA 23 competitive gaming program that represents the future of football esports.
The first-ever EA SPORTS Cup takes the lead in improving the ecosystem. Players representing the world’s largest esports organizations and professional football clubs will compete against each other in a three-month 2-on-2 competition starting October 17. Watch EA SPORTS FIFA on Twitch and EA SPORTS FIFA Esports on YouTube every week as Manchester City Esports, Paris Saint-Germain Esports, Fnatic, Complexity and many more showcase their world-class soccer skills. The EA SPORTS Cup will culminate from January 16-21, when a champion will be named and the two teams will advance to EA SPORTS’ 2023 FIFAe Club World Cup.
“With the support of world-class esports organizations and football clubs, the first ever EA SPORTS Cup is a momentous moment in the EA SPORTS FIFA 23 Global Series (FGS 23),” said Brent Koning, VP of EA Esports. “The allure of the competition combined with a dynamic narration of a story unfolding on the pitch will create must-see entertainment and motivate audiences to embark on their own competitive adventures in EA SPORTS FIFA 23.”

The EA SPORTS Cup is just one piece of the FGS 23 puzzle. This season’s competitive landscape offers a robust tournament structure for players residing in 70 countries who will have the chance to become their own respective champions.
Traditional FGS 23 1v1 competition returns as everyone competes in EA SPORTS’ Road to the FIFAe World Cup 2023™. Online 1v1 competition begins with the worldwide release of the EA SPORTS FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition on September 27. Over the next ten months, participants will participate in a variety of 1v1 tournaments.

- Matches begin on September 27 with the FUT Division Rivals, with top players advancing to one of five FGS Regional Online Qualifiers.
- At the FGS 23 Mid-Season Major on April 7, 2023, the best players from the five FGS Regional Qualifiers will be welcomed to a live LAN event in London, England.
- Another route to success is entering an official tournament organized by one of the world’s major football leagues and associations. More than 30 football league partners and football associations will organize tournaments where participants will have the opportunity to represent their favorite football club. The biggest and best football sports tournaments return as part of FGS 23, such as the ePremier League, Virtual Bundesliga, eLaLiga Santander, eLigue 1 Uber Eats, eMLS, eSerie A TIM, KPN eDivisie, CONMEBOL eLibertadores and the eChampions League. The remaining football league partners will be announced very soon.
- The top 64 players in the FGS 23, who qualify through the FGS Regional Qualifiers or soccer league partner successes, will compete in the FGS Playoffs from June 23-25.
- EA SPORTS FIFA 23’s esports competition will come to an end at the end of Summer 2023 during the FIFAe World Cup. The top 24 players in the FGS playoffs representing the top stars of FGS 23 will compete in the 2023 FIFAe World Cup, where only one person will be crowned World Champion.
“The FGS collection of the world’s biggest stars, top esports organizations, top football clubs, leagues and associations will showcase the next generation of esports in the Road to the FIFAe World Cup 2023,” said Sam Turkbas, EA SPORTS FIFA Esports Commissioner. “Now when you combine the power of stars with a robust ecosystem that gives players from all over the world the opportunity to become the next big player, you can rightly call this the greatest year in the history of the franchise.”
The online qualifier and majors of FGS 23 are officially brought to you by PlayStation and will be played exclusively on the PlayStation 5 consoles.
