Those of us who live the mobile launch calendar as if it were our own even come to associate the arrival of seasons or times of the year with some of them. And as with Apple, Samsung and other brands, Xiaomi has also made a hole there, in that hype, and now with a half July it gives to make a good compilation of what we think we know about the Xiaomi Mi A3.

The Xiaomi Mi A1, the “culprit” that we have continued to see mobiles of this family, arrived in September 2017, but the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite did so at the beginning of last summer. We do not have a date for the arrival of this one, but the manufacturer has already made a teaser and as usual rumors and possible leaks accumulate. Let’s see what seems to be known.

Taking the CC mold, but not the one we thought

As we said, Xiaomi itself has been in charge of animating the expectation at this time and a few days ago it published this tweet from its official global account. The leading role: photography and the distinctive feature of this family: Android One.

Our hit Mi A series is coming back with a serious bang! #PhotosWithoutLimits

We saw at that time a detail as subtle as it was revealing: Xiaomi’s name was written with a different but well-known font at the same time, neither more nor less than the one we recently saw at the presentation of the Xiaomi Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e. Two smartphones that were the first to be produced in conjunction with Meitu, also focused on highlighting that photographic part, hence the talk that the Mi A3 could take the mold of one of these and not the Redmi as we have seen on previous occasions.

But if the logical thing was to think that the CC9 would be the Mi A3 and the CC9e the Mi A3 Lite, following in the wake of last year’s double launch, the first photographs that have appeared of what appears to be the box of one of them break this association . This time, the Mi A3 will be the international version of the Mi CC9e, and with Android One instead of Android + MIUI.

This is also shocked by the fact that the Mi CC9e has a 720p resolution screen, a lower value than that of the Mi A2 (FullHD +). In fact, in the photographs of the box the resolution is not seen and some leaks pointed out that the screen of the Mi A3 will be 1080p.

Thus, what seems to be integrated is a 6.1-inch screen (sorry, 6,088) AMOLED with a resolution of 720p or 1080p, with fingerprint reader integrated in it and that drop-shaped notch that would differentiate it quite a bit from its immediate predecessor. Remarkable frames without being exaggerated for a mid-range mobile according to what we have been seeing.

Growing in battery and megapixels

Thus, we see an aesthetic traced to the lesser of the first CC, not only on the front but also on a plastic rear with a “patent leather” finish. How this one would come in addition no audio jack, with USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.0, aptX HD support, FM radio and perhaps without NFC.

Considering the configuration of the CC9e and the rest of the leaks that support that theory, the Mi A3 would integrate the processor Snapdragon 655 with 4/6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of storage. Heir to the Snapdragon 660 which was precisely the one that the Mi A2 had.

To power all this there would be a 4,030 milliamp hour battery, also supporting that 48 megapixel main sensor for the rear main camera that would be accompanied by an 8 megapixel and a 2 megapixel one (ultra wide angle and depth, respectively).

Thus, at the moment no doublet bells are ringing with the new Mi A family, we do not know if because it has remained very isolated from leaks or because finally there will not be a Lite edition. Will it be able to fit as a star mobile to recommend for its value for money? We will see, at least with the “noise” from Xiaomi what it seems is that the presentation is closer.

Update: From the Soyacincau site, in Malaysia, they claim to have a unit of the Xiaomi Mi A3 and show us photos where it shines in all its splendor. These would confirm many of the rumors and leaks, such as the triple camera and the 3.5 mm jack.
