Once again, it has been cascades of leaks that have made us draw in our heads (and in many cases, our computers) the next novelties in the high-end of Huawei smartphones. With a lot of camera and some unknown regarding the software, we can make a juicy compilation about everything we think we know about the Huawei Mate 30.
The quote is clear: the September 19th The brand has summoned the press to publicize the Huawei 30 Mate series, so we expect more than one mobile. Last year there were three Mate 20s with the Huawei Mate 20 Lite, the Huawei Mate 20 and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and this one looks like we will at least see two terminals.
Skimming 7 inches and crowning with a bigger notch
Huawei says in the teaser that it also published with the announcement of the event that we expect something faster, bigger and more powerful, and speaking of the screen it is said that it would have a diagonal between 6.6 and 6.8 inches. FullHD + resolution of 1,176 x 2,400, which would be something strange in the Pro having already risen to the next level with the previous Mate (and not with the Huawei P30 Pro) but it would fit with a Mate 30.
The design that began to leak in May (yes, already in May) showed a front with a perforated screen, but later allegedly official photographs and renders were seen in which we saw a notch for the front camera and some other sensor, being elongated and not in “U” or “V”.
The previous Mate 20 Pro integrated on-screen fingerprint reader with ultrasound technology and his thing would be for this to continue. In fact, since in the filtered backs we do not see a trace of physical finger sensors (now we will see what is clearly seen in this part) the logical thing is that it is or not ultrasound is integrated into the screen, as it is also a trend in the high Android range.
If so, the Huawei Mate 30 would already have a certain rise with respect to the Huawei Mate 20, which has a fingerprint reader on the back (although it is difficult to distinguish between unofficial or supposedly official renders if they show us the 30 or the 30 Pro ). What was seen a few days ago is that the Mate 30 would keep the screen with curves, but they would be more pronounced than the previous ones (almost like OPPO’s Waterfall screen). So much so that in fact in the unofficial renders there are not even side buttons on one side.
A large circular module for three or four cameras
Another thing that the teaser lets us see is a circle that is also drawn in the presentation, and it does not seem by chance that it is the same shape that characterizes the rear camera module that many leaks suggest that the Mate 30 will have. from what was said about the sensor size of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.
There seems to be a lot of people who don’t know how big the gap is. I’ll draw a picture to tell you that, in fact, Note10 has no chance of beating Mate30 Pro in terms of camera hardware. pic.twitter.com/f8W2kSTLqk

According to this leaked by IceUniverse (which has hit the nail on the head previously), Huawei’s new top of the range would add to the 40-megapixel 1 / 1.7-inch RYYB sensor that the P30 Pro premiered a newer and above all bigger. This second 40 megapixel sensor would go with the ultra wide angle lens and would have a size of 1 / 1.5 inches, which would be close to or reach what we saw in the mythical Nokia Lumia 1020 (1 / 1.55 inches).
Thus, it is spoken of quad rear camera like that of the P30 Pro, integrating an ultra-wide-angle camera with a 40-megapixel sensor, another 40-megapixel sensor for the standard camera (the RYYB sensor we said or a Sony IMX600, perhaps depending on the model), a telephoto lens with optical zoom 3x magnification and the Time of Flight sensor for depth analysis.
For the standard Mate 30 it seems that there would not be four, but three rear cameras. This is deduced from an apparently official poster that leaked at the end of August, with what appeared to be the backs of one and the other mobile, both with the circular module but one with three and the other with four lenses.
From the frontal or frontal nothing has been commented or filtered, so we will have to see what makes up that set of sensors that seem to be part of the notch on the screen. It is expected that together with the hardware the software will accompany the usual dose of functions and modes that we see in the EMUI camera app, surely with some function related to artificial intelligence (as understood by the manufacturer).
The Mate would continue to be in charge of brand new processor
At the heart of the Huawei Mate 30 we would see the recently released Kirin 990, in principle the version with 5G. Although it would not be unreasonable to think from previous launches of this and other brands that only the Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 compatible with 5G would take the 990 low, or even that later there would be a “Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G”.
What is talked about is an 8 GB RAM and of models with up to 512 GB of internal storage, to which a little more would be added thanks to the NM memory cards. To power all this, batteries of 4,200 and 4,500 milliamperes / hour have been commented, with a fast charge of 40 watts or even 55 (although the latter came from those first leaks in May that we saw before).
A lot of filtration, but also a lot of doubt in the air
The question is: what will happen to the software? Huawei is still under the veto that the United States imposed a few months ago and that even with variations and changes remains in force. In fact, as it has been known these days the Mate 30 They could not have Android or Google apps, according to a company spokesperson, given that they cannot do business with Huawei without government authorization. Something that Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei, also told us in an interview.
“We are associated with Google, but now the US government has put us in a position where it is impossible to continue to use Google Mobile Services for new products in the United States.” Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei
This does not mean that we are going to see about Mate 30 and 30 Pro with HarmonyOS, the new operating system that the Chinese presented a few weeks ago, since in this same interview Yu explained that the first product with this system “may be the P40 in next spring, maybe next March. ” We will see how EMUI 10 arrives in these Mate 30.
