F1 Manager 2023

F1 Manager 2023 finally revealed – release, info & much more!

In the early summer of last year, we were allowed to take a close look at Frontier Development in Cambridge: In addition to the F1 series developed by Codemasters, which has been the official game partner of Formula 1 since 2009, there is finally an alternative to the premier class of motorsport that doesn’t have us in the ___pit as usual sits, but at the command post. In F1 Manager 2022, we are in control of exactly what is designed in our factory, how much overtime our engineering staff is forced to work, what racing strategy is driven and much more. The final version of the motorsport management simulation was launched on August 30, 2022, but it was not entirely convincing in our test. Whether you can eliminate errors with the second part of the newly started series and thus reach new heights?

Our tester Katha was particularly lacking in the area of emotionality and the typical drama aspect of the “world’s largest circus”, but also in general the many management aspects for such a complex sport as Formula 1 are too simple and playfully limited.

Now, almost a year later, there is finally the first concrete information about the successor: F1 Manager 2023 will be released digitally on July 31, 2023 for PC (Steam & Epic Store), Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Unlike its predecessor, a physical release is also to follow. We give you the first glimpses of what Frontier Development is planning in terms of add-on content, post-launch content and more.

F1 Manager 2023 – these are the planned features

The F1 Manager 2023 focuses on the current Formula 1 season and thus includes all 23 planned races including the brand new Las Vegas Strip Circuit, the six sprint events (short F1 races that have been part of the racing calendar since 2021) and all official drivers, teams and cars. Furthermore, one promises – typical for games that rely on an annual release – many cryptically formulated new and old features, which we summarize for you here in simplified form:

  • Take on the role of team principal and manager in one of the ten official F1 teams
  • More strategic options, more detailed processes and a stronger immersion
  • More dynamic racing processes
  • New exciting factors, such as the “tiredness” of the pit crew or the self-confidence of the drivers
  • New position: Athletic Director (determines your crew’s training programs, increases their skills, etc.)
  • Independent talent scouting in the subclasses, i.e. the F2 and F3 championship
  • Updated 3D map and camera options during sessions
  • A new mode: Race Replay – “Write the 2023 World Championship your way”
  • New modes: Starting Grid + Race Moments

Finally, the new “Race Replay” mode mentioned offers two unique scenarios to recreate the key moments of the 2023 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The other two new game modes, ‘Starting Grids’ and ‘Race Moments’, focus on real racing and replicate the track conditions and grid position of a real F1 Grand Prix. In the latter, there are also pre-determined goals that we must achieve. What’s exciting about it: New starting grids and a race moment are added after each official race, testing the team bosses from week to week. Regular and fresh challenges should therefore not be a problem in the new Racing Manager.

Just as exciting are newly introduced factors such as tiredness and other values of our pit crew, which we are allowed to improve in a targeted manner over the course of the season, as well as the self-confidence of our drivers. The more risk we take in the race, the more dangerous the impact on us and our team could be in the fight for important championship points. Fluctuating temperatures of the asphalt and our tires, the general conditions of the surfaces, the resulting (or non-existent) grip etc. should also be relevant. It remains to be seen whether the announced features will actually have a positive effect on the somewhat dry and playfully limited basis that was created last year.

The F1 Manager 2023 will be released digitally on July 31, 2023 for PC (Steam & Epic Store), Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The retail price should be €54.99 (standard version) and €64.99 (deluxe edition). If you pre-order, you get four days early access and three unique racing scenarios

Let’s face it, barring any more miracles, Red Bull Racing’s overwhelming dominance means we’re in for a Formula 1 season this year where excitement is likely to be lacking. The “F1 Manager 2023”, which is being developed by the developers at Frontier Developments and was given a release date today, should help.

As the British studio announced, “F1 Manager 2023” will be available for consoles and PC from July 31, 2023. In addition to the standard edition of the managing simulation, a deluxe edition will be released, which grants buyers the now almost obligatory advance access. Anyone who purchases the deluxe edition can get started on July 27, 2023, four days before everyone else.

In addition, the deluxe edition of “F1 Manager 2023” includes a scenario package with twelve exclusive scenarios, which according to the manufacturer are divided between the starting grid and racing moments.

But what are these scenarios all about? According to today’s announcement, “In these scenarios, Team Principals will be tested even more by experiencing individual races that pose hypothetical challenges: What if it rained in Bahrain?”

“If every car was the same, who would win? The scenarios of the Deluxe Edition offer fans the opportunity to put some of the most important questions in the sport to the test. As was the case in the predecessor, in “F1 Manager 2023” you take control of a Formula 1 team of your choice and try to secure the world championship.

You are not only responsible for the strategy in the race. At the same time, you take care of the well-being of your team, develop your strategies further or look for aspiring pilots. The attached trailer provides you with first impressions of this year’s offshoot.
