Update (07/28/2020, 2:33 PM): all services have returned to normal operation after approximately half an hour of failure.
Both the social network of Facebook like Instagram and WhatsApp are currently suffering service drops in Spain. Accessing the Facebook or Instagram website from desktop browsers gives an error message, for example.
There’s also apparent problems with the WhatsApp desktop client -You can continue to send and receive messages from your mobile-, while on Instagram updates with new content on your mobile do not seem to work either.
A fall only in Spain?
The fall seems to be affecting only Spain, and from DownDetector for example it is shown how the total focus of the falls that is based on user notices, focuses on Spain exclusively. The same map with those service conflicts appears for both Instagram and WhatsApp.
The rest of the world seems to have no problems with any of these services, and in fact from Engadget we have tried using a VPN to simulate a US IP, and in that case the desktop browser has loaded both Facebook and Instagram without problems.
WhatsApp still works from the mobile right now and messages can be sent and received. Facebook and Instagram load, but do not update new content.
In Engadget we have contacted with those responsible for Facebook in our country to learn more details about the situation. Those responsible tell us that the fall was due to a network problem that has impacted Spain, without giving further details.
