Fall Video Game Wishlist: The Occupation, Soulcalibur 6 and more.

Autumn is coming! You don’t have to get smoked sausage, Christmas decorations and hot chocolate right away, of course. But… thinking in advance what you are going to put your salary aside is useful. With the holidays just around the corner, the number of game releases is also increasing. Which ones should be on your wish list? Laura Jenny tips!

Mega Man 11 (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch) – 2
Forza Horizon 4 (PC, Xbox One) – October 2
Racing game Forza has managed to steal the show for years with its beautiful views, shiny cars and pure racing fun. It’s not surprising, but if there’s a racing game to have your eye on this fall, it’s Forza again. It’s made by Playground Games and this British studio is keeping it close to home this time, as we’re going to race in the rolling British countryside full of cute cottages. You can play the game by yourself, online or with friends and the latter is mainly what the developer has in mind when making this game. And England means a lot of different weather types, so anticipating that is essential in this upcoming racer. Want to know more about the features? Check out the video below:

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise (PS4) – 2
Super Mario Party (Switch) – 5
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – 5
WWE 2K19 (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – 5
The Occupation (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – October 9
If you’re looking for a game with intrigue, mystery and suspense, then you should put The Occupation on your wish list. This game takes place the day after the author of this piece was born: October 24, 1987, so the world was a lot more beautiful than two days before. Just kidding, of course, because The Occupation shows that the world is not a rose scent and moonlight at all. The Occupation is a first-person thriller created by White Paper Games that is about more than just looking for clues and talking to people. You have to use special methods to get there. Sneaking through small corridors, setting the time on your watch so that you know how long you have left: this investigative journalist is not completely clean coffee. You have to be able to handle stress, because with a ticking clock it is always slightly less comfortable to play than without.

Kursk (PC) – 11
Child of Light (Switch) – 11
The Light Keeps Us Safe – Steam Early Access (PC) – 11
Disgaea 1 Complete (PS4, Switch) – 12

The World Ends with You -Final Remix- (Switch) – October 12
With the huge trend of remasters, at least one has to be on this list and that is The World Ends with You this month. This DS game about a boy who disappears from the face of the earth and has to do crazy tasks to get everything back to normal was already a huge success. Now Nintendo hopes to match that on Switch. The special thing about this game is that rhythm plays a major role, but where that used to mean tapping the touch screen at the right time, it has now been replaced by the Joy-Cons. This remaster may also be worthwhile for those who have already played the game on DS as it will add a new chapter that explains more about the core of the story.

Dark Souls Remastered (Switch) – 19
Soulcalibur 6 (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – 19
Soulcalibur 6 in itself is not really a surprise, it is already the sixth part in the series. However, the announcement that Geralt of Rivia will be added as a fighter did loosen up the tongues. However, many more innovations are expected, which are hopefully better than the changes that were made in Soulcalibur 5. Guard impacts are no longer dependent on a super meter, so you can run them at any time. There is a meter, but it is used to add Critical Edge, which has a great effect on your attack. The eight-way run is also back, so the fight is much more dynamic. There is also a new option: Reversal Edge, which is best compared to the Focus Attack from Street Fighter IV. Enough renewed and back again, to make this another very successful part of Soulcalibur.

He has been late a hundred times, but now he really has to be there: The Walking Dead. Not the famous one from Telltale, but that of Starbreeze Studios. It’s a survival action game, just like the characters from the Robert Kirkman comic. It is almost the complete opposite of what we now know from the series. It is bloody, it is difficult and hard skills are expected of you.

Ride 3 (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – 8
Valiant Hearts (Switch) – November 8
If you’re snuggling up on the couch with a blanket in the winter, you might not want to play a mindless shooter, but a story with a little more depth and impact. Then Valiant Hearts is your game. It has appeared on other consoles before, but now it’s Switch’s turn for this emotional war story set in World War I. It is a platform game, but mainly a puzzler in which you always have to look for handy tricks to get rid of roadblocks. And in which you must always ensure that enemy fire does not end in your body. Ubisoft Montpellier made this game, where especially the dog has become very famous.
