Fantasy Strike team says Sony still complicates having cross-play.
Some time ago, Microsoft and Nintendo decided to open the doors of cross-play on their consoles, realizing the dream of many people to play with their friends, regardless of the video game. Sony entered this party a little grudgingly, due to controversies related to Fortnite. It seemed that everything had been resolved, but the developers of the fighting game Fantasy Strike revealed that the company is still making life difficult for everyone when it comes to releasing cross-play.
Sirlin Games, the company behind the Fantasy Strike game, had released the game in Early Access on the PC some time ago, but finally took the title to PS4 and Nintendo Switch, in addition to reaching its final version on the computer. One of the elements promised and implemented was cross-play, but with limitations.

“Fantasy Strike relies on cross-play as far as possible, limited only by Sony restrictions,” revealed the studio. This means that PC players will be able to play with those who are playing on the PS4 or Switch, but if you are only on the consoles, you cannot face your friends in the video game too. Basically, who has PS4 plays against who has the same video game or PC and who has Switch fights with those who are also on the Nintendo console or on the computer.
The division is done automatically by the game, but it is still a nuisance.

Sony creates the same problem as Fortnite
Sony’s limitation creates a problem already known to Epic Games battle royale fans. That’s because Fantasy Strike created its own login scheme called FantasyTag, which helps to maintain the player’s identity on all platforms where cross-play was released. This allows you to take the number of wins and losses, in addition to offering universal XP and progression regardless of the platform you are on.
The problem starts when FantasyTags created on PS4 can only be used on the Sony console, while those created on PC and Switch can be used on these other platforms without problems. According to the developers of Fantasy Strike, Sony does not allow account information from another platform to be used on the PS4, and vice versa.

This was circumvented in Fortnite by pressure from thousands of players, but it seems that Sony doesn’t care much for small companies, as is the case with Sirlin Games, when they try to cross-play their titles.
Fantasy Strike is now available on PC, Switch and PS4.
