Far Cry 6 in 4K also on PS5 and PS4 Pro, Ubisoft’s confirmation arrives.
Far Cry 6 was recently announced, causing a fuss about a wording that appeared right inside the reveal trailer. That wording states that Far Cry 6 will have “4K Ultra HD only on Xbox One X and Xbox Series X,” leading some to believe that PS4 and PS5 will not have the 4K support previously seen in Far Cry 5 for PS4 Pro.
The important thing to note is that “4K Ultra HD” is actually the Xbox term in reference to the 4K provided by the console; so it wouldn’t make sense to say the same for the PlayStation versions. It doesn’t help, however, that there isn’t a similar confirmation for the PlayStation versions in the trailer, and many sites have posted the news that Far Cry 6 won’t get 4K for PlayStation at all.
Now, however, it is Ubisoft itself to clarify the situation through an official announcement: “To clarify, Far Cry 6 will be available in 4K on PS5, PS4 Pro and PC. Further details will be available at a later time”. So despite the confusing marketing, Far Cry 6 will have 4K for the PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 5, and more technical details will be revealed as we get closer to the game’s release.
Far Cry 6 will be released on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and Stadia on February 18, 2021. You play as Dani Rojas, a resistance fighter who is trying to bring down President Castillo in the fictional city of Yara.
