First Shadow of the Tomb Raider screenshots pop up in the lead-up to gameplay reveal.

The lament of drunken idiots, the sound of glass shattering to the ground … Damn, it’s time for the King’s Guard! Tonight: The first Tomb Raider screenshots and box art pops up, Squeenix was deeply dissatisfied with Final Fantasy VII remake, Nintendo and the Switch are still going crazy and Kratos is the poison god. Good morning!

Initial Shadow of the Tomb Raider screenshots are inevitably reminiscent of Uncharted

Today Lara Croft’s latest adventure is officially revealed, including gameplay footage. Until then, we can already look at the screenshots below, and that is certainly not a punishment. The screenshots come from Amazon and should keep us warm until about 3 o’clock Dutch time this afternoon, when hopefully a very cool trailer drops. De Wacht mainly hopes for more information about the story of the game, which gameplay will be comparable to the first two. Not that that’s bad, of course. Here, new environments, some weapons and an Uncharted feel – or is it the Guard?

Trekkies, there are two new Star Trek movies in the works

That’s what Paramount boss Jim Gianopulous says, at least. And we are more than happy to believe them. More info is not available at the moment, but it is something! Especially after it seemed last month that Paramount would turn its back on the franchise. And yes, this is a GIF from the Star Trek series, which the movies will have nothing to do with. That doesn’t make him any less cool:

Battle for the best Ninja Turtle with Splatfest in Splatoon 2

De Wacht has still not really given the game a chance, but apparently Nintendo keeps a nice life in the brewery with events. This includes the next Splatfest that kicks off in May, starring none other than the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In conjunction with the upcoming Nickelodeon series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nintendo is hosting the Splatfest, and the gimmick is that players will have to battle out who the best Turtle is. This is done with three rounds over three weekends: Raph first vs. Leo from May 4, then Mikey vs. Donnie from May 11 and then the final battle on May 18. In Inkopolis Square, players can choose a team every weekend and receive a matching in-game shirt.

‘Square Enix flicked away all CyberConnect 2’s work to start over on the FFVII remake’

Some interesting posts pop up from someone who may have been a 3D Artist for the Final Fantasy VII remake, showing that development on that game went even worse than we thought. Before we go into that, it must be said that we can take this with a small grain of salt. The messages are reportedly from one Dan Tsukasa, a game developer / 3D Artist who has social media contact with Lead Designer Wan Hazmer (pretty legit, so). He took to Reddit to vent his heart on what he experienced from the painfully slow development process, the juiciest news being that Squeenix decided to throw away all the work developer CyberConnect 2 did on the remake in order to get a fresh start. start (via Resetera).

Dan Tsukasa has since deleted his Twitter and Reddit accounts, oops! If everything that came off his account actually came out of his mouth, then the Guard will understand. For example, Tsukasa has no good word for game director Tetsuyá Nomura, who apparently never was there because he mainly works on Kingdom Hearts 3 in Osaka. Furthermore, Tsukasa takes the time to demolish CyberConnect2 by calling them unprofessional and incompetent. “And I know they outsourced to hell and back in order to get things to the point we saw them publicly, and it still wasn’t enough to save them.”

The best man did not know how the Final Fantasy VII remake is doing now, as he will not be working on it for a while. Nevertheless, he does mention that there were periods when development ran smoothly, so although Squeenix has been working on the game for less time than we thought (two instead of four years), there is still a glimmer of hope for a release. before 2020 …

Recent Nintendo annual figures confirm that the Switch has passed 17.5 million sales

Nintendo is doing very well and the company’s annual figures show that. For example, the reporting of the past fiscal year makes it clear that total Switch sales are now more than 17.7 million copies (via Gamasutra). Nintendo is raking in profits of 36.1% more than last year (1,054,200,000 euros), to which game sales also contribute of course.

Big earners are Super Mario Odyssey (about 10.41 million sales), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (9.22 million) and Splatoon 2 (6.02) million; in total there are 12 Switch games that have sold over the (digital) counter more than a million times. Combined software sales amount to around 63.51 million units, not even including the 3DS. 6.4 million 3DS copies were sold in the last year and some 35.64 million software titles. Of course Ultra Sun & Moon are head and shoulders at the top with 7.51 million sales.

Alden Ehrenreich has signed on for three films with his Han Solo

I’ve got a shitty feeling about this. But the Guard is not very enthusiastic about the upcoming Han Solo film. Sure, he’ll be in the movies checking him out, but Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo is a tough pill to swallow. To make matters worse, it becomes clear tonight that the actor has signed for not one, but three films as the young smuggler. Ehrenreich made a mistake in conversation with Esquire and was probably revealing a little too much information. Three. … I don’t know if that’s officially, uh, public. But — yeah. ” On the one hand, it is swallowing because the first film must be damn good to have a right to exist and give it to two more films, on the other hand, the Rogue One actors also signed for more than one film. And we all know that Star Wars spin-off has been shelved on Hoth. Everything will depend on Solo’s success.

Anime-inspired animated series Star Wars Resistance announced

Speaking of Star Wars, Disney announced tonight that a new animated series is also in the works. The series is being created by Dave Filoni, who also previously worked on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, and should be seen in the fall. Resistance follows a pilot named Kazuda Xiono, someone who flies for the Resistance and wants to learn more about the First Order. In addition to the main character, the series features voices from BB-8, Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) and Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), among others. So if Solo is disappointing, you always have this series to look forward to this year.

Dave Filoni says the following about his project:

The idea for Star Wars Resistance came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots. My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that’s been a big influence on me. There’s a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we’ve captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time.

Two new blades from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in action

If you still can’t get enough of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or, like the Guard, get too quickly distracted by other games but want to continue, then Monolithsoft offers two reasons to pick up the Switch again. The first is a free DLC character aka Blade, called T-elos Re, a kind of counterpart to the KOS-MOS from Xenosaga:

Number two is a Blade called Poppibuster, an oversized Poppi robot who is undoubtedly good at pounding. The Poppibuster is part of the Season Pass, and will be added to the game like the other blade with the latest 1.4.0 update.

Fresh screenshots from New Gundam Breaker

The Guard pulls another bunch of hot screenshots from his oven, this time from New Gundam Breaker (via Siliconera). The screenshots show the apparently so-called Gunpla, something the Guard knew 100% already and does not have any other website at all, because he understands very little about Gundam. Let’s just look at the pictures, the game itself will be released in the West on PS4 and PC on June 22nd.

Trailer time

Don’t forget: Kratos is the real king

The animators of God of War aren’t the worst, they know that a good meme can do a lot for your game. Even if your game is already as damn good as Kratos’ new adventure – but what does the Guard know after less than 15 hours of play ?! Nothing, so he must quickly finish this Night Watch so he can continue. So um, bye!

The Guard doesn’t want to keep this one from you either: an official image of what 2018 Kratos looks like without a beard:

Okay one more gif then. Lateeeeeehr!
