Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3, release and start time explained

Season 2 was originally scheduled to end on April 30, but the corona crisis likely changed those plans. The season was eventually extended for five weeks, so Season 3 begins a bit later.

According to Epic Games, the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 released Wednesday, June 17.

An exact time has yet to be announced, but it’s usually shortly after the end of the previous season. This means that the servers are first taken offline and server maintenance takes place. It usually starts at a fixed time, namely:

  • Benelux / Europe: 10 a.m. (CEST)
  • UK: 9:00 a.m. (GMT)
  • US East Coast: 4:00 a.m. (EDT)
  • US West Coast: 01:00 (PDT)

As with any new season, all of the Season 2 challenges will be gone, so if you still have any Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 challenges, you need to complete them by June 17.

What leaks were there before Fortnite Season 3 started

Traditionally, Epic Games never reveal what the next season is all about. However, the developer gives some in-game clues at the end of the current season.

You may have noticed that the No Sweat Insurance building in Lazy Lake has posters well hidden. The three posters are all devoted to water. The first poster shows a Shark and Peely in the water, the second poster shows Meowscles with armbands up to their hips in the water, and the third poster shows a house floating on the water.

The various posters of the No Sweat Insurance building in Fortnite.

These clues could indicate that the map floods during chapter 2 of season 3. This matches an earlier video by YouTuber Tabor Hill. He claims the Season 3 map is largely covered in water. A new means of transport could also be introduced, namely a “shark that can be driven”. These statements are very similar to thematic posters.

Apparently there are also puddles all over the map. Players see this as a prelude to a possible flood. As of this writing, a countdown to a major new event is starting in Fornite. The clock is counting down to Saturday June 6 at 8:05 p.m.

Additionally, the loading screen with the image below has been replaced. It shows Midas with a mysterious helmet. There is also another unknown character in the reflection of the glass. The helmet is probably part of the leaked Cyclo outfit.

This costume probably plays an important role in Chapter 2 of Season 3. According to the leak, the outfit is described as “Defy the Storm” and the accompanying cape “Wherever the wind blows”. This would indicate that the combination is very powerful. Cyclo therefore contains similarities to the strange device in Midas’ chamber.

If the flood rumors are true, it’s likely that Midas and the suit are responsible. We have to wait until June 11 to find out.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 has started. This of course means a new Fortnite Season 3 Battle Pass and new challenges such as finding the safe and key card for Catty Corner and the Gnomes in Homely Hills in week 1.
