Gears 5 – the director says microtransactions will be friendly.
While there will be microtransactions in the game’s multiplayer mode, the development team says we don’t have to worry about them, and there won’t be loot boxes at all.
As in previous parts of the series, of course, multiplayer mode will be featured in Gears 5, but it is also well known that this is now typically associated with some form of microtransactions. The director of the game’s multiplayer mode has now spoken in an interview about what we can expect.
One of the most important things that comes from an interview with Ryan Cleven is that there will be no lootboxes at all in Gears 5 and while many probably think the team wanted to learn from the mistakes of Battlefront II, the director says it’s not about that at all:

“We made that decision before. We were trying to predict what could be a better decision and we were finally among the first to introduce card packs in our game. We thought we handled this in a very elegant way in Gears 4, of course they did. there were other companies and games that did it differently and the players liked it even less.
We wanted to put ourselves in a challenge: can we provide players with things to buy so that someone would want to buy it, but in the meantime, shouldn’t we spoil the game for others? From the beginning, we set ourselves this task and felt that loot boxes didn’t fit into Gears 5, so even before the scandal, we were deliberating that we could go one step further. ”

In the game, we will be able to pay with a virtual currency called Iron (which, like other games, we can buy for real money) and all the items we buy will be available during the game. It’s good to hear that the developers were really trying to satisfy everyone, but at the same time it’s sad that a team today has to actively emphasize that they won’t pull players down.
The release of Gears 5 will be released on PC and Xbox One on September 10th. How much do you expect? Will you be able to make friends with this microtransaction system or do you think even that is too much?
