In recent months, there have been many unexpected successes on the gaming market (even short-term ones), but the successful premiere of Genshin Impact can be considered the most surprising. It is not a casual battle royale or an online title with unique gameplay, but a third-person action RPG that is rather abundant on the market. Nevertheless, the work of MiHoYo studio made the best debut in the history of Chinese productions and conquered Twitch and the mobile market. Unfortunately, the saying “there is no rose without thorns” once again proved true. As has often been the case in recent years, micropayments, or more precisely – one of the five (!) Systems related to microtransactions, turned out to be a problem.

There are also comments from Internet users, most of which share the opinion of the author of the thread. Of course – as is the case with online discussions – the text sparked a lively discussion and not everyone agrees with it completely. There were both staunch defenders of Genshin Impact and people who spoke about the work of MiHoYo studio much more critically than the author of the topic. As a result, moderators had to remove 12709 entries from the thread. They were supposed to be only short, meaningless comments and low-flying memes, but – of course – a handful of users do not believe these assurances.

At first glance, the micropayments in Genshin Impact seem complicated and overwhelming, but surprisingly, it is not their number that is problematic for players. However, these types of rewards are not necessary to play – we can easily explore the world of Genshin Impact with heroes unlocked in the initial missions.

The cost, although expressed in virtual currency, in practice is usually paid for with money – collecting the appropriate number of coins, energy points, etc. by active game it takes so much time that it is simply unprofitable. There is, however, one element that – although briefly mentioned in the articles – has become a salt in the eyes of gamers. We wrote that Genshin Impact does not force you to spend real cash, which is true. However, it is different when we talk about making progress in the game at the later stages of the game. Well, the production includes the resin system (Original Resin), which renews at a rate of 1 point every 8 minutes to a maximum of 120 points (so it takes 16 hours to fully regenerate the resin bar). We use this currency to activate dungeons, Ley Lines and special bosses. Not that we can’t take on these quests without Original Resin. The problem is that in this case, we will not receive rewards for these activities.

Interestingly, according to simao1234, the system itself is not a problem. Limiting progress in this way is nothing strange or reprehensible, as long as it is not taken to the extreme of the infamous Harry Potter mobile game. Unfortunately, although Genshin Impact definitely does not come close to that production in terms of making fun impossible, it does take its toll at the later stages of the game. However, the possibilities of getting Fragile Resin are very limited (in practice, we get this type of resin only for acquiring subsequent account ranks and as part of the premium pass), and the latter not only requires reaching the wallet, but we can use this option only six times. per day, paying more and more Primogems each time (one of the two premium currencies in the game).

Perhaps worst of all, such a system works badly with other game constraints, such as time constraints. Some items and character upgrades are only available on certain days, and bosses – like some MMOs – take some time to come back to life. The Resin limit also makes it difficult to complete weekly tasks as part of the battle pass, unless we play every day.

This is another charge of simao1234 against Genshin Impact. Even in the case of daily game sessions, we may have a problem with completing all the desired tasks in a given week. However, if work or other responsibilities prevent us from launching the title on a regular basis, we have virtually no option to catch up. User suggestions include increasing the maximum number of Resin points, introducing modest rewards for quests without using resin, and implementing a mechanic that would allow you to at least partially catch up with a few days in a longer session (for example a free Fragile Resin for each day, albeit with a limit of 7 in inventory ). Are these or other improvements likely to hit the game in the future? Only the creators know that. So far, they have announced the development of story content and the addition of missing cities and new game modes (via Noisy Pixel). However, it can be assumed that the second proposal of simao1234 – a complete rework or removal of Resin – is absolutely unrealistic.
