God of War Creative Director Ragnarok Answers Angrboda Criticism.
God of War Ragnarok is by far the most talked about game today. Fans have been yearning for a sequel to the game since 2018.
After the game was released on Playstation Showcase last Thursday (09), fans have been complaining about the appearance of some characters that have been released.

Thor and Angrboda were the most criticized by the public. Some users expected Thor to be a muscular and powerful being similar to Kratos, or similar to the Thor of Marvel heroes. When the promotional footage came out, we had a surprise with Thor overweight, redheaded and apparently alcoholic. It is noteworthy that this description is the closest to the texts on the Norse mythology.
However, the character who received the most criticism was Angrboda, for being imprecise with Norse mythology and her ethnicity.

The creative director himself, Matt Sophos, responded to criticism:
“It’s not accurate to Norse mythology/doesn’t respect the culture.”
Hoo boy. The big one. Let me start with this:
God of War is our interpretation of mythology, not history—Norse or Greek. We tell a personal story with the backdrop of gods, Giants, etc. through our lens. 5/11

“No need for Norse mythology / not respect the culture.”

Oh boy. The big. Let me start with this:
God of War is our interpretation of mythology, not history – Norse or Greek. We tell a personal story with the background of gods, giants, etc. through our lenses.
Do they also have blue dwarfs in Norse mythology?

Was Loki the son of a Greek demigod?
As the director himself said, God of War Ragnarok draws from the well of Norse mythology with the necessary narrative adaptations. People need to stop trying to compare everything to the original work. Since the game itself doesn’t follow that line.
About God of War Ragnarok:
