God of War loses his Kratos: dead Shad Gaspard, the former wrestler who gave his physique to the God of War.
Last Sunday, Shad Gaspard, ex-wrestler of the WWE and member of the Cryme Tyme tag team, was located off the beach of Marina Del Rey, where he was swimming with his 10-year-old son.
An incredibly strong current, made even more dangerous by some devastating waves, was dragging both of them adrift and the risk was at the highest level. The Coast Guard rescuers intervened quickly but, due to the adverse conditions, they could immediately save only one of them. Shad did not think twice and directed the rescue to his son.
Unfortunately, after rescuing the boy, a powerful wave hit the wrestler, making him disappear. Three days later, last Wednesday, his body was found on the beach, certifying his death at just 39 years old.
Fate, if we can say it, is truly ironic: Shad Gaspard was not only known for being a wrestler, actor and bodyguard for celebrities such as Britney Spears is Mike Tyson, but he was also the person who “lent” his physique for the motion capture of Kratos in God of War.
A father who sacrifices himself to save his son is not a very different story from that of Kratos and Atreus: the epilogue was unfortunately tragic, but he will be remembered as a hero for putting another’s life before his own.
