Google and Nest are growing together with Nest Hub for DE and new Nest Hub Max.
While the German market has been waiting for the first Google Home Hub, the company is presenting a new smart speaker with a display under the Nest brand. The Nest Hub Max, a smart speaker with an extra large display, has now been presented. Google had already shown the device on its own website a few weeks ago, and now it has been officially presented with a number of innovations.
But there is also good news for German customers, because the home devices are becoming Nest and the Google Nest Hub is finally coming to Germany. For us, this means that we will receive the 7″ model that does not yet have a camera installed.
“You will love having the support of Google Nest Hub in your daily life and being able to spend more time with your loved ones. Therefore, you can already pre-order Nest Hub in the Google Store for €129 (RRP). From May 28th you will also receive Nest Hub exclusively at Media Markt and Saturn.
And: We are introducing new prices for some of our products. From May 7th, you can get Google Home for €99, Google Home Mini for €59 and Google Home Max for €299.”
Nest Hub Max has a larger display and built-in camera
The first completely new product is the Nest Hub Max, an even larger smart speaker with a 10″ display and integrated Nest camera. The latter is not only practical for video telephony, but can also serve as a surveillance camera when you are not at home. But the camera is also useful for gesture control, for example to quickly control the volume.
“Nest Hub Max has a Nest camera to help you keep an eye on things around your home: you can turn it on when you’re away and check the Nest app on your phone. Just like with your Nest camera, you can easily see your event history, turn on Home/Away Assist, and get a notification when the camera detects motion or doesn’t detect someone in your home.”
Also new: “Today with Nest Hub Max, we’re expanding your options for personalized help with a feature called Face Match. For each person in your family who wants to use the device, the wizard guides you through creating a face model that is encrypted and stored on the device. Face Match’s facial recognition runs locally on the device through machine learning, so camera data never leaves the device.”
Nest Hub Max was not announced for Germany, in the USA the part is sold for 229 dollars. A later market launch is certainly not excluded, after all, there are also other Nest products to buy from us.
Nest and Google are growing together
“Another step we want to take to keep your Nest devices safe is that we offer a Google Account to anyone who uses a Nest device or service. We have a wealth of experience protecting billions of user accounts—automatically and with industry-leading technologies.
Starting this summer, you can migrate your Nest Account to a Google Account, which offers some security benefits and tools:
- If suspicious activity is detected, you will receive a notification. This includes unusual or potentially dangerous occurrences, such as B. A suspicious attempt to log into your account.
- The Security Check provides you with customized guidance to help you secure your account and manage your online security.
- 2-Step Verification makes your account even more secure, as each login requires additional verification. This can either mean using a trusted device or using a physical security key in addition to your password.
If you already have a Google Account to use Gmail or other Google products, you can easily migrate your Nest Account. When you first buy a Nest product, you will automatically be able to use it with a Google account.”
In the background there is also a merger of the developer platforms. All in all, the previous Home devices are migrating to Nest, while the Nest software is more likely to migrate to Google. This seems difficult to understand at first, if one has not dealt with the topic further.
