Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition and more coming soon

Plus details for upcoming special events and updates in GTA Online

Later this month, Rockstar Games will be celebrating a very special anniversary: 20 years since the original release of Grand Theft Auto III – the game that released players into the sprawling, three-dimensional metropolis of Liberty City with a new and unprecedented sense of freedom. Grand Theft Auto III not only broke new ground for the open world genre, but also established Grand Theft Auto as a cultural phenomenon. Just like the two subsequent – and equally legendary – parts in the series: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

We would like to give a huge thank you to all the Grand Theft Auto fans who have supported the games over the past two decades. Your love and appreciation for these games has kept the Grand Theft Auto series moving forward with each new release.

In honor of the upcoming anniversary, we are proud to announce today that all three games will be coming to current generation platforms later this year in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will feature upgrades across the board, including graphical enhancements and modern gameplay enhancements across all three titles, while retaining the classic look and feel of the originals. We’re very excited to share more about these groundbreaking titles in the coming weeks – stay tuned!

In preparation for launch, we will begin removing existing versions of the classic titles from digital retailers next week. For more information, visit Rockstar Games Support. In addition comes Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition to iOS and Android in the first half of 2022.

As part of GTAIII’s 20th anniversary celebrations, you can enter Grand Theft Auto Online collect special items, including commemorative clothing and liveries, during the upcoming Fall events.

We’ll be providing more details on how to get your hands on these as part of our ongoing events in GTA Online in the coming weeks. This month’s GTA Online events also have some special surprises – including the possibility of some unusual activity taking place in and around the southern part of San Andreas…

We will also continue to improve and develop GTA Online. As you may have noticed, we’ve recently started bringing certain Adversary Modes and Player Jobs in and out of the game. GTA Online offers a huge variety of games, with over 1,000 Rockstar created Jobs and tens of millions player created Jobs since launch. By moving the Jobs created by Rockstar in and out of the game over time, we not only free up space for new missions and modes in the future, but also improve the game’s matchmaking by focusing the community on a more streamlined list of weekly Jobs.

This allows us to bring back jobs at different times for special or seasonal events and help reduce some of the less loved jobs. In addition, we can also resurface some of our faded classics or the quirkier favorites of the community. As well as special bonuses, such as this past week’s return Offense Defense, sumo and much more.

We’re also looking at ways to improve the GTA Online experience for new and returning players in the upcoming release of GTA Online for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S next March. Stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for details on this and more information on GTAV and GTA Online’s expanded and enhanced releases in the coming months.

And get ready to dive into an exciting new adventure in GTA Online later this year, where some well-known contacts and friends need your help expanding their ‘legal business’ – with many more surprises to be revealed soon!
