[GUIDE] : Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – How to increase the power level.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla abandons the Odyssey leveling system and replaces it with a Energy level mechanic who is much more forgiving. So much so that there isn’t a single experience booster in sight in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While it is functionally similar to the traditional leveling, there are a few things players should keep in mind when reviewing and upgrading their power level.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s power level is increased by spending skill points earned through levels and mysteries.

Power level does not increase on its own when leveling up in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Instead, you are rewarded with two skill points every time you fill up your experience gauge (roughly 5,000 experience points). Investing those skill points in your skill tree is what actually increases your power level, so in theory you can manually lower your power level by removing skills.

[GUIDE] : Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – How to increase the power level

Skill points can also be earned through Mysteries around the world (blue dots). Some mysteries, like World Events which replaced side quests, grant a considerable amount of experience, but a few others distribute a skill point or two when completed. Cairns, Fly Agaric puzzles, and shrines are examples of mysteries that grant skill points (shrines award the most, but the amount varies among shrines – the more you have to collect, the better the payout). Upgrading your armor and weapons increases your damage and health, but they don’t directly contribute to your power level. The number at the bottom of your inventory will only increase with skill points invested, so you’ll want to make sure you’re spending them to actually increase your potency.

Power Scaling is also more forgiving than the old level-gating found in Odyssey. There are four difficulty levels depending on your power level versus the power level recommended by a territory or quest. Green indicates that you have leveled that content and it will be easy, white is tied, red means you are below and enemies will be difficult, and a red skull indicates that you are significantly under. leveled and enemies will – shot you, or get close to doing so. The power level scaling window is plus or minus 30, so if you are at power level 90, anything between power level 30 and 120 will be normal for you.

[GUIDE] : Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – How to increase the power level

Here’s the kicker: A few bosses aside, the power level doesn’t significantly increase enemy health in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It does, but you can actually tackle more difficult areas and content if you’re very stealthy or pretty darn good at dodging and parrying. The damage from enemy attacks increases dramatically, so you’ll want to be sure to avoid getting hit.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – How to Increase Power and Charisma, and Recommended Skills and Abilities

Here are some of the best skills and abilities to learn, along with tips on how to level up quickly.

[GUIDE] : Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – How to increase the power level

Unlike previous games, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a bit more generous with its level scaling. As Eivor gains experience and levels up, his power increases and two skill points are received. You’ll level up as you play through the story, but be sure to talk to all the surrounding characters to unlock optional side missions. These offer additional opportunities to gain experience. Exploring the map will also open up world events that can help in this regard (in addition to offering their own set of rewards). Raiding is also a great source of experience and also brings in a good amount of money.

As you spend skill points, your power increases. More importantly, these skills will provide different bonuses like stat boosts, new abilities, etc. You will also find nodes that will provide bonuses for specific armor schools. The skill tree is much more extensive in Valhalla with several different branches and some abilities wrapped up from the start. The skills fall into three main categories: the way of the bear, the way of the wolf and the way of the raven.

[GUIDE] : Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – How to increase the power level

Recommended skills and abilities

Way of the Bear is more melee-focused. It is suitable for players who want to charge and take down their enemies. Skills recommended in this category include Stomp, which deals a devastating kick to an enemy on the ground; Warrior Takedown for taking down a single enemy and fueling adrenaline for every enemy who notices it; and Heavy Dual Wield, which allows you to use two heavy weapons. Bow users will also find useful skills like the Light Bow Combo where consecutive shots deal extra damage and Arrow Volley which will fire all charged arrows at once.

The skills of Way of the Wolf are focused on range, but also offer good benefits for survival. Stealth Recon will highlight enemies when crouched and undetected; Last Chance Healing will slow down time in critical injury; and Charged Shot allows you to fire two charged arrows with the Hunter Bow (although the attack cannot be canceled). The Bow Stun Finisher serves the same purpose as Stomp, taking out stunned enemies. Arrow reinforcement is also recommended for collecting arrows from dead enemies. You might want to invest in Grit with a melee build as it recovers the red part of its health bar when attacking.

Finally, there’s Way of the Raven, suitable for stealth players. Brush With Death is good for activating slow motion while narrowly avoiding a hit; Advanced Assassination is essential for killing high level targets (but requires some timing); The guided arrow controls the arrows en route to their targets; and Chain Assassination will allow you to assassinate a second enemy after killing the first. Other useful skills include counter roll, breakfast, and missile reversal.

Of course, there are a number of different abilities to unlock as well. These are obtained by locating Knowledge Books (with a second book for an ability to improve it). Some notable abilities include Vengeance of Thor to unleash a powerful, unstoppable attack; Ax Throwing Fury for throwing axes throwing at enemies; Rush and Bash which allows you to run towards enemies and then pick them up, either to throw them from cliffs or into walls; Rage of Helheim for knocking an enemy to the ground and beating them to death with your fists; and Mark of Death, which allows you to hold down the fire button and mark enemies before releasing to fire multiple arrows. How to raise the charisma

[GUIDE] : Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – How to increase the power level

Charisma is not essential to winning battles, but it is necessary to unlock different dialogue choices, some of which can have profound effects on quests and events. Increasing Charisma requires earning Flytings, the rap battles that occur between Eivor and another party. The key to winning a Flyting is choosing statements that rhyme while staying on track with your opponent. New Flyting opponents can be found throughout the game and winning a Rap Battle will award +1 Charisma.

If you lose a Flyting, don’t worry – just replay it and choose different responses. When your charisma is high enough, new dialogue options will be indicated by a mask icon.
