Since their launch in 2016, the 100% wireless AirPods headphones have been so popular with iOS users that they have become a must have.
Their wireless design is their strength but also their weakness since they are very easy to lose.

If you have lost your AirPods, there are three solutions available to you: find them using your iPhone via the Find my iPhone feature, request their replacement (€ 67.12 minimum including shipping costs) or buy new ones ( from 179 €).

To learn how to use the locate feature and get your hands on your AirPods or their charging case, then follow this tutorial.

Find your lost AirPods with Find My iPhone

Since the iOS 10.3 update, Apple has integrated AirPods into its native Find My iPhone app. With this feature, you can find your lost AirPods.

If you had previously configured this function, then it will allow you to efficiently locate your iOS devices in case of loss or theft.

In case you hadn’t thought about it, don’t repeat the same mistake and go to SettingsApple ID, iCloud, iTunes Store by tapping on your name → iCloud Find my iPhone.

To find your AirPods from an iPhone or iPad, go to Find my iPhone and select your AirPods in the list.

If you’re on a Mac, go to, enter your Apple IDs and open Locate. Once on the application, click on All devices then on AirPods.

How to find the case of your AirPods?

The charging case is essential to charge your AirPods but also to pair them. If you are no longer in its possession, then your headphones will be unusable once their battery is depleted.

How to find your AirPods

[GUIDE] : How to find your lost AirPods? Part one

Let’s face it, anyone who owns a pair of Apple AirPods or AirPods Pro has misplaced them at least once or twice. These little wireless headphones are easy to lose, but luckily Apple has created several tools to help you find them quickly and easily. Here’s how to get your hands on your AirPods again.

How to find your lost AirPods with your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

One of the easiest ways to find your Apple AirPods is to use Apple’s built-in Find My service. The best advantage of Find My is that you don’t have to register your AirPods directly with the service. If you are already using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch registered with Find My, connecting a pair of AirPods to the device will automatically activate Find My for your headphones.

If your AirPods are lost, out of the case, and nearby, you can use Find My to find them quickly. Unfortunately, if your AirPods are in the case or out of range, Find My will only be able to show you where they were last connected. It’s still better than nothing, and it might help you find your AirPods.

To find your AirPods on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, follow the instructions below:

  • Open the Find My app.
  • Select the tab Devices.
  • Choose your AirPods.
  • On your computer, you can instead do this:

  • Go to
  • Connect with your Apple ID.
  • Open Find iPhone.
  • Click on All devices, then on your AirPods.
  • How to find your AirPods by ringing them

If you know your AirPods are somewhere nearby but you can’t locate them, you can ring them to locate them. Just like when you ask someone to call you to locate your phone, you can turn on a sound on your AirPods to find them. This can be more useful than checking the GPS position of your Apple headphones if you are at home or in the office, for example.

To find your AirPods by ringing them, just follow the instructions below:

  • Open the Find My app.
  • Select the tab Devices.
  • Choose your AirPods in the list.
  • Tap Play Sound.
  • What to do if your AirPods are offline

If you’ve tried to locate your AirPods using Find My but found they were offline, you won’t be able to see the GPS position of your headphones or make a sound to help locate them. You will just get a “No location found” message in the app. However, all is not lost.

You can navigate to the last known location of your AirPods, which might help you narrow down the search. You also get a notification when your AirPods are brought back online, if someone else finds them, or if a thief tries to use them.

How to find your Airpods using your iPhone

Apple’s Airpods represent the ultimate in Bluetooth headphones. But this miniaturization taken to the extreme may cause you some problems. Indeed it is very easy to lose them. Fortunately Apple offers a function to locate its AirPods from its iPhone. Let’s see how it works.

Set up the AirPods location feature

Each earpiece is barely 40mm in length for a weight of no more than 4 grams. With measurements like these, it is inevitable that you will lose them someday, especially if you are the head to toe type.

To avoid this type of situation, it is essential to assign your AirPods a dedicated place in which you will store them every evening. In this way you will minimize the risks of losing them but also of damaging them. And then you feel much better in a tidy house.

Unfortunately all these precautions are not always enough. If you lose one of your wireless headphones, you don’t have to send everything flying to the four corners of the house. IPhone now has a specially designed tool to find your lost Bluetooth headphones.

Note that this device only works if the charging case is open and the AirPods are within range (Bluetooth) of your smartphone. Which corresponds to approximately a radius of 10 meters. If there is no Bluetooth connection, iPhone will tell you the last known position.

Another important point is that the Find my iPhone application needs to be activated beforehand. Here is the procedure to follow. Without this mandatory step you will not be able to find your AirPods.

    • Open your iPhone Settings
    • Click on your name and email address at the top of the window
    • Select iCloud
    • Scroll down the window to bring up the Find my iPhone option
    • Click the switch to activate the Send my last location and Find my iPhone function
    • Then enter your Apple ID to confirm your choice

How to find a lost AirPod

Did you just lose one of your headphones? Do not panic. Once the Find My iPhone application is configured, you will see that it is possible to find your Apple Watch or wireless headphones in a few seconds.

    • Launch the Find My iPhone app
    • Sign in using your Apple IDs (email and password)
    • You should see a list of all the devices connected to your iCloud account (Mac, iPhone, iPad and of course AirPods)
    • A colored dot in front of the name of each device indicates its operating status
    • Green color means the device is online
    • The gray point means that the device is not connected to the internet. It is either turned off, discharged, out of Bluetooth range or simply stored in its box
    • The blue dot is the device you are currently using
    • Then select one of your headphones
    • Its current or last known location will be displayed on a map
    • If a green dot appears next to the name of your headset, it means your device is near your phone
    • Click the Ring icon to force your headphones to play. The volume will gradually increase over two minutes.

If the AirPods are offline (gray dot), the app will have a harder time locating them. However, it will provide you with the last known location. Then all you have to do is get your AirPods while keeping your cool. Do not hesitate to get help. We sometimes tend to seek and always look in the same direction.

Here’s how to find your lost AirPods

Small and cordless, AirPods seem destined to get lost every couple of days. As Apple thinks of everything, headphones have been added to the Find My iPhone feature. However, there are certain imperatives:
