Better yet, for € 9.99 per month, you will benefit from 1TB of space per user for a maximum of six people. Each user also receives Office 365 and the full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote.

These apps can be installed on a maximum of five computers, tablets and smartphones. The OneNote and Outlook apps are even Apple Watch compatible. The only real weak point of OneDrive concerns photos and videos, since we deplore the lack of a browser or a dedicated editor.

How to transfer photos from iCloud to Google Photos?

Before using this tool, you must enable two-factor authentication for your Apple ID. Also, make sure you have enough storage space in your Google Photos account.

The main advantage of this solution is that you don’t no need to download photos and videos from iCloud before “uploading” them to Google Photos. The entire transfer process is automated and taken care of by Apple.

Appointment on ”“ and sign in with your Apple ID account. Then click on the option to transfer a copy of your data.

In the drop-down menu that then appears, select Google Photos. Check the two boxes that appear, to choose both photos and videos. Then click on “Continue”.

The service then indicates the amount of storage space you will need to store your photo library. Check one last time if your Google account has enough free space.

Otherwise, the transfer will be interrupted and the remaining photos will not be copied. After this verification, click on “Continue”.

Via the window that appears, sign in to your Google account and allow Apple to access your Google Photos collection. Follow the instructions.

The transfer begins, and the process takes between three and seven days to be completed. You will receive an email from Apple when all content has been copied.

Currently, Apple’s tool only allows you to upload photos to Google Photos. In the future, however, other services should be supported.

Getting a brand new iPhone is always a pleasure. On the other hand, transfer all data from your old device towards the new model is not always an easy task. Fortunately, iCloud makes it easy.

First of all, make sure your old iPhone is updated with the latest version of iOS. This is to ensure compatibility with the new device, and to minimize problems during data transfer.

To perform this check, open the app Settings> General> Software update. Follow the instructions until your iPhone is updated and reboots.

After the device has restarted, open Settings and tap your Apple ID at the top of the screen. Then go to iCloud> iCloud Backup and select the option “Back Up Now”. Make sure you have enough storage space to back up all your important data.

During the process of installing your new iPhone, you can restore data from old device from this backup. You just need to sign in to the new device with your Apple ID.

Use the “Quick Start” function offered to you during installation. Place your new smartphone near the old one, and a window opens offering you to transfer the data to the new device.

A cloud of small dots appears on the screen of the new iPhone. Point the old device’s camera to that cloud, and enter the six-digit password.

At the end of the installation process, you are offered to ”transfer from iPhone” or ” download from iCloud “. Choose this second option.

After a short while, your new iPhone will be ready with all the data and settings from the old one, including the home screen layout and more. All you have to do is download your favorite apps again, which will be automatically organized and categorized just like on your old phone.

This method is very convenient, and can transfer your data and settings from your old iPhone in as little as five minutes in most cases. However, if the volume of data to be transferred is very large, the process may take several hours.

So it may be better to use the “iPhone Migration” tool offered by Apple, choosing the option ”Transfer from iPhone” during the installation. This tool can transfer all data from the old phone, including local copies of photos and videos, health data, or passwords stored in the keychain.

After copying and synchronizing all the data you need on your new device, you can delete them on the old one. Make sure you do this before you sell or gift your iPhone.

Disable first the “Find my iPhone” feature by going to Settings> Account. Choose your name from the list, then the iCloud tab. Then go to Settings> General> Reset, then choose the option “Erase all content and settings”. Enter your Apple ID password, then wait for the process to complete.

IMessage backups on iCloud can be viewed by the police

Originally, iMessage is considered one of the most secure messaging on the market. It delivers end-to-end encryption for messages. This means that no one can read the content except the sender and the receiver.

However, if the iMessage “backup” feature is enabled on an iPhone or iPad, tAll messages are uploaded to the cloud. This allows users to download their messages when they change device.

However, researchers at Johns Hopkins University reveal that these iMessage backups are potentially accessible to governments and authorities. In the event of an official request, Apple can open access to these messages to investigators.

This is what happened during an investigation into a gang of drug dealers from the Virginia-based Dark Web. These traffickers were sending opiates throughout Washington DC state.

According to the documents recently unveiled on this investigation launched in 2020, the police in the city of Alexandria were able to consult the iPhone from a confidential source. This inspection made it possible to reveal contacts by iMessage with gang members.

The police gave Apple a list of iCloud accounts, and the American firm unveiled messages shared via iMessage. These messages lifted the veil on the manufacture of opiates such as fentayl and carfentanil and statistics on the potency and quality of the pills.

Of pictures of these pills were also shared by messages. One of the suspects even saved an ingredient list on iCloud. The dealers were arrested earlier this month.

Thus, even if is encrypted, this is not the case with iCloud backups. The security of this messaging system is therefore illusory. In 2020, Apple was considering fully encrypting iCloud accounts, but ultimately backtracked. It is possible that this reversal of the jacket follows a request from the FBI …
