[GUIDE] : Souls of the Demon | How to beat the old hero, and how the PS5 still teaches me to love Soulslikes Part one.

The old hero may seem tough, but he’s one of the easier bosses in Demon’s Souls with the right strategy. The old hero is blind, so he relies on sound to feel you. Knowing this, the best way to fight it is to equip the ThiefBodyform Ring or die and stay in Soul Form (which doesn’t make any noise).

Make sure you do one or the other to make this fight a lot easier and a lot more manageable.

Old Hero has four main attacks:

  • First, he has a slow and easily dodged slam
  • Second, it has a sweep that comes out almost instantly
  • His third attack is an uppercut that has a slow but deceptive start
  • Finally, his explosion attack, which has a long animation but a huge range. You have to run away the second you see him ram his sword into the ground

The easiest way to defeat Old Hero is to use hit and run tactics. Sneak up behind him and start attacking him until he roars. Then roll over and wait for it to swing and start walking again. Repeat this until he is dead.

If you have Firestorm, you can use it for an even easier way to defeat it.

You can learn Firestorm from Yuria after defeating Dragon God in World 2-3. Sneak up on Old Hero and launch Firestorm directly at him. This attack spreads and hits multiple times, so it’s extremely damaging and can take him down in a single throw if the full Firestorm lands.

The Poison Cloud method is by far the easiest and safest; although it takes a long time.

You can learn Poison Cloud from Sage Freke by defeating Leechmonger in World 5-1. After entering the room, sneak up and throw Poison Cloud at him. You should see him poison himself and his health slowly depleting.

Then run to the back left corner by the stairs. Stay in this corner and wait for the poison to run out. As soon as you stop hearing the poison’s sound effect and see his health stop depleting, come back to him to recast Poison Cloud. After a while, the poison will finish him off.

After defeating the old hero, you will receive the hero’s demon soul. This soul can create the Great Sword of Research at Blacksmith Ed. With this soul you can also learn Second Chance from Saint Urbain, the most mastered spell in the entire game. Second Chance reduces the caster to 50% health. ‘he dies while the spell is in effect.

Demon’s Souls remakes the old hero’s boss

The Old Hero is probably one of my most favorite and unique fights in the Soulsborne series.

The fact that the old hero is blind and the way the boss battle goes is absolutely intriguing. You will face this difficult boss at Arbitrator’s Archstone.

Statistics

The old hero has a total of 4410 HP but relatively high defensive stats, which makes him rather difficult to knock down.

The old hero’s boss strategies

Prerequisites for combat

The fact that the enormous Old Hero is completely blind must be used to our advantage.

Equip your thief ring and wear the lightest armor you have. This gives you plenty of room to breathe whenever you need to get away from battle.

Having heavy armor will instantly alert the old hero of your location, resulting in an attack from him. Being silent allows you to plan your attack.

Take your time

You can’t rush the boss fight. If you lose too much movement, you’ll end up being spotted by The Old Hero.

Try to stay at a distance when necessary and avoid any movement near the boss.

Approach the old hero from behind, take a few hits and back up. It’s easier when you’re wearing lighter armor and the Thief’s Ring.

Using the arena

Getting close to the boss can be a wonder if you don’t know what you’re doing.

So if you already have the sneaky tactics, be sure to use the pillars around the arena to effectively mask yourself as you get closer to The Old Hero.

You can also try using Firestorm when you get behind The Old Hero to deal a huge amount of damage.

If you have a ranged weapon, shoot the boss and wait for his scream to end, then repeat. While this strategy is a bit cheesy, it ensures that you hardly ever get hit.

OLD HEROES

On this page of the soluce Demon’s Souls Remake, find out how to beat the boss old hero in The way of ritual.

This boss can easily be defeated, as long as you always stay behind his back. The Old Hero is totally blind, but he has very good hearing. Hide behind the pillars and walk slowly to approach him and attack him in the back (pictures1and2).

Hit him a few times, then quickly move away to return to hide behind the pillars (picture3). Do not be in a hurry, wait for the right moment to attack him and try to always stay behind him.

It is entirely doable to defeat the Old Hero without enduring a single attack, and for good reason, this Demon is blind. Aside from an area magic attack, the Old Hero fights with a gigantic sword and searches for you throughout the fight. Be discreet and kill the Demon slowly.

Don’t be loud! Prefer light armor than heavy, flashy armor. The thief’s ring makes it less detectable.

“Touch” is the Old Hero’s second way to find you. When you attack it, it can become your position. Its weak point is that it only detects you when it starts roaring.

He is groping for you with his sword, don’t be afraid to see the Old Hero knocking in all directions.

When he plants his sword in the ground, he is preparing an area attack comparable to that of the false king Allant.

He is weak in the face of poison! Take a poison weapon, kunais, or the poison cloud spell. As the fight takes place over time, poison is your best bet.
